My experience with Kevin / UMW tracks very well with yours.
Buy from UMW with confidence!

ps, he owns AND drives a few of these cars so plenty of real-time testing occurs.

Tune replaces whatever you had before (stock or otherwise). Definitely worth giving Kevin a call. Looking to go that direction once it starts to thaw out here in Ohio.

sidwin, my tuning module has 4 file locations. Plus the ability to overwrite any location.

I'd want you to also datalog your FVD. I want to see that your engine is running correctly. No intake leaks, FPR control line failure or ??? But yes, I will take you mod list and tune for your engine.

Here's some of the tools of the trade I've gotten from Kevin, I show this because I'm (mostly) an idiot, so it's helpful that it's easy.

Starting from the far right is the original read/write device that I have my for my 996tt. It plugs into the OBDII port on the car, then with a couple of idiot proof directions, it will flash or restore any tune you get. It has indicator lights, and gives you a visual indicator if all is working.

On the left is a new module, which is newer flavor for my 997tt that has an OBDII port and USB connections. I'm excited to have this one because I no longer have to have my 8 year old in the back of the car running the datalogs (yes, I'd go to jail, don't remind me).

Last is the "borrowed from old job" laptop I use to to do tuning with the UMW Datalogger on a PC. It uses an OBDII to USB cable that is locked down on the VIN, but can read the data from my ECU, can pull error codes and the like, and tells things like over-revs, etc.

I've shown my nerdy friends the datalogger before and they've said, "meh..." Until I show them the data we are able to log and suddenly they realize that the ability to see these logs is what they can't get from their programs.

Now that my smog issues are behind me (lazy O2's) and the ridiculous snow in TN is melting, I'm back in the game for a new flash with my upgrades!

Woohoo!

What upgrades did you add since the last tune?

I've got the do88 hoses coming, so once those go on I'll prob do another dyno run to see the deltas..

My 997tt had a tune on it from when it was stock (UMW's most basic tune for 93 octane). Then I had it all apart and got mostly the same setup as you now. So, I knew that I wasn't getting what I could, but I was trying to break in a clutch, make sure it didn't leak anywhere and move from Ohio to TN... 2015 was hell!

^ Great article Kevin, I make a habit of checking mine periodically, It gets a little tricky to see, but I take a video with my cell phone to make sure all is well.

Stef is great to work with - I have purchased 2 exhaust systems directly from him (I am in S. Cal.) - smooth and quick transactions over email- everything they said they would do they did and I had exhaust within a week both times.

Quality of build is second to none - not the lightest or the loudest - but one of the best overall!

It is not tricky at all. You need a bending arm mirror like this and a flash light. It is a 2 minute job. Keep your cell phone in your pocket.

I've had several requests from customers that track there cars to lengthen the duration of datalogging. For those that are interested, we can now log up to 33 to 35 minutes.. Guys please email me for details... Cheers

I had my 996TT tuned with UMW and now my 997TT. Kevin and I finished the job yesterday. The tune is adjusted to match my car and exhaust with the gas available in my country (Finland). Multiple data logs were recorded with the data logging/tuning module to ensure the tune is spot on with all the variables.

Tuningwise I would not look another way. Data Logging module is super handy and easy to use. Plug and play. It allows me to switch to more aggressive program within a few seconds when I drive to Germany and higher octane gas is available. No hassle with laptop.
