I never said popping on an exhaust will hurt a motor, but porsche is concerned with any mods as far as the 9a1 dfi motors go.
As far as the op's car, I would not put any tune on a 997.2 under warranty, plenty of time for that later.

Thank you for all the info guys, I learned a lot about tunes. That said, I still want to wait until my warranty expires next year. I need to save some goodies for the future

Does the 997.1 have the same Siemens ECU as the 997.2?

They're different. Programming/calibration are also very different between the two platforms. 997.2 and 991 though are quite close.

As stated, only the 997.2 and 991 have the new Siemens "smart" ecu. I believe the 997.1 has the older Bosch unit, you're safe code red!

You got it.

Tuning wise there are virtually no similarities between them at all and with enough time/experience with each they're similarly smart/difficult to tune
