Trade Decisions?
While I love my 43k mile 997TTS, I'm ready for a change and currently have my name on my dealer's allocation list for both a GT4 and Boxster Spyder; I plan to accept the first one that becomes available to replace my 997TTS. I love the looks of the Spyder and know the open top sound will be great, but I'm concerned about the minimalist top in a DD. I know the GT4 will be better suited for track days, but admit that I currently only do 2-4 such events a year. I also have a 1988 911 cab, so I don't have room to keep my 997TTS too. Do I just have "new car fever and should keep my TTS or go with a GT4 or Spyder..if so, which one?

eh, different style of car. For me, no brainer GT4. If this is to be a daily car, the spyder top would not do it for me.
I can see the appeal of the GT4 and if I could have a sensible daily driver and a fun car, I'd probably take the gt4 over a 7tt. If it was my only car, i'd stick with the 7tt

Between the two I'd go GT4. They'll be really hard to source from what I hear... They should also hold value better than the spider. Just my .02 worth. You'll miss the TTS though but if you track (at all) that will be short lived if you do the GT4.

I couldn't daily drive a GT4 if the clutch is anywhere near the stiffness of a 7GT3. Don't get me wrong under the right conditions GTs are pure joy but as a daily in traffic the clutch will get old fast. Also negotiating entrance ramps, rain when soft treads go low in 10k miles, large wing all makes it potentially difficult to deal with all year. Part of the appeal of the turbo is its understated aesthetic and all around versatility. I would keep the TTS and get the GT4 as a second car for those 2-4 events and weekend thrashing. Sell the 1988 911 cab instead.
