Why you shouldn't use just anyone for an alignment
The dealer aligned my car after the engine was out and I had all of my work done. I had always intended to take it to "my alignment guy" anyway, because I wanted it done right. I've driven the car pretty gently since I got the car back, but it seemed to wander and the steering was off center. Here's why:
You'll never know it's right unless you take it to someone you trust. Just a little public service announcement from everyone's favorite smoking' monkey.

Anyone have an alignment guy in Oakville/Burlington/Mississauga or Toronto? Or should I just go to the dealer? I have the same issues - steering off centre and a lot of sway when driving straight.
PS sorry for the hijack

The other thing you have to worry about when looking for a shop to do an alignment is their ability to re calibrate the steering angle sensor. Not recalibrating this will throw out your abs and traction control engagement points slightly. Most people would never notice but will make a difference if you really push your car hard or track it.I found this issue with my 996 C4S and the version of durametrics, my snap on scan tool, launch scan tool and every other one my shop had was unable to do it. I did my alignment and hit the specific numbers I was looking for then brought it to the dealership to have the steering angle sensor recalibrated

It's interesting, I've owned 2 996tt's and this 997tt and have never had PSM kick on in the 997. My 996's used to come on a lot, maybe this was why. Or I drive more sanely or smoothly now

Interesting. My old 996TT would kick in the PSM when pushing hard into a corner (quite disconcerting....) for the first 1K miles after I changed the rear tires (using a Korean branded tire but correct profile) then settled down.

-3.0 chamber? I didn't think that was possible with stock arms in the rear.
Regardless, was your car in a prior accident or are you trying to setup the car for a circle race in the wrong direction?
Wrong, just wrong. Go see someone that know what the hell they are doing. You also may want to check out your mounts and arm setup.

Yep, Bill at Performance Alignment is the best around
I'll miss him when I move to TN.
That was the before shot after my alignment guy got it on his rack. My engine was out and they put in new wheel hubs/bearings front and rear. So, that's what caused it to be out of spec. What's sad is that the dealer already tried to align it once after they were done with the work.
To Chris' point (TT Surgeon), many dealers don't do it in house, and the folks who do it for them are not familiar or qualified to be doing our cars. I learned my lesson on my 993tt, that it's not just anybody who can align a Porsche.
