Thank you! Will exhaust give me sharper throttle response on lower and mid range band?

Yes, of course! Anything to free up resistance after the turbos will help them spool faster. Better throttle response, better hp/tq throughout. Good quality exhausts on these cars are proven to give you respectable power and throttle response increases, as I am sure other owners will agree.

Doing software first then hardware would require you to redo software to complement new hardware.

Makes sense...I've decided to live with the car for a month or two before making any decisions. The more I drive her the more I understand how she ticks...I am taking her to an autocross event this weekend, expect to learn a lot about her behavior so maybe the best mod is to adjust my inputs :-).

Not the best car to autocross but still fun nonetheless. The weight of the AWD system combined with the turbo lag make for a slower experience than you'd think since most autocross circuits don't have long blazing straightaways.

What you really need is a track day to see it come alive.

As Eviligloo said, these cars are NOT good Autocrossers. Besides be beaten easily by 914-4's with a little suspension work, you just won't get out of 2nd gear. Plus, you'll get maybe 20 minutes of actual track time.

I would cancel that autocross and do the Porsche Owners Club's Willow Springs Performance Driving Series event on June 27th or 28th. You'll get free instruction, five 25 minute track sessions on a real race track, and you'll see what your 997TT can really do.

Thank you! I've autocrossing my friend's 1977 911 until now, so I do expect to be in a bit of a culture shock with my Turbo S. But this is MY first Porsche...and my daily drivers until now have been large SUV's or full size sedans...I think autocross is s perfect place for me to safely learn the limits of the car (more likely limits of my skills)...my goal is not to have the lowest time, but to walk away a better match for my car's abilities. OK, I do want to win too...but will judge myself against other 996+ turbos to avoid real embarrassment :-).

Thank you! This does look amazing! But this being my VERY first Porsche, and my experience in a car of about 3 weeks...I think I need to graduate to Willow Springs...this autocross for me is more about learning car's and my limits on traction, breaking, rapid direction changes...she is my everyday driver, so I want to be able to be fast AND safe on regular streets. Also my rear PCCB rotors are almost gone...probably not a good idea to take her to a proper track until I get that handled...I am desperately hoping to keep her ceramic, looking for a good used set.
