2009 997 Turbo (Stick) or 2011 997.2 Turbo S?
#31
I owned a 2009 C4S PDK car and it was fun and easy to go fast...then I bought a 2009 TT 6MT...two totally different driving sensations. I have not driven a 997.2 PDk TT and I imagine it would be fun but there is just something about my 6MT...I feel so much more connected to the car. But to each his own but since you have a DD PDK...I say go for the 2009 6MT...you won't be disappointed and the Mezger engine is so solid and it sounds like you won't be doing mods so it will last forever!!!

To me my 997.2 TT with PDK is a great daily driver. For my needs, it is better and more efficient than alternatives such as m3/5 or E/C 63. But if I didn't have to face heavy LA traffic, I could easily see myself driving MT. But after a long day of work, PDK is king. If all I needed was a weekend car, I would probably go for a 997.2 GT3 or something more raw than a TT (Cayman GT4 is tempting). It depends not only on what one prefers, but what is the use of the car. I prefer raw for fun, but speed and some comfort is what I mostly need everyday. Need to work on a weekend toy...

OP, if you are a 930 guy, then the 09 TT manual will be a closer analog experience than the TTS PDK, still not as frightening.. The 09TT, not only is the last Mezger, its also a low production year, which in my humble opinion, will be highly desirable one day.

I used to own a 08 TT and now own a 12 TTS. All I can say is it is important you drive both multiple times if possible. I made the switch for the newer technology and a faster car. I personally do not miss my 08 but clearly there is a divided sentiment on this forum.... a personal preference should be the deciding factor ( as always )
either way you win ! both great cars

I think it depends on what other cars you have and how you plan to use it. If I didn't have a manual already and the car was going to be my only "fun" car, I'd want a manual. If I already had a manual fun car or was buying this as a daily driver, I would certainly take the PDK.
I have a 6sp older 911 that is fun, but the PDK on the Turbo is much faster and more useable on a daily basis.

I find it interesting that some folks are drawing the line at "weekend car = manual, daily drive = PDK". If that were the case then why did Ferrari stop making manual cars? 99.99% of Ferraris are weekend cars.
IMO get the manual now, especially in the 997.1 TT. Porsche isn't making anymore of them and it will only get harder to find quality examples later. and you can always pick up a newer TT with PDK literally any time, heck that's all they are making now.
Just check out the demand for the F430 6spd vs the auto variant, it's the last Ferrari manual.

I've got bad news. Fidelity (Platinum) will not cover this 2009 997TT. Broker called Fidelity and they confirmed today. No reason given.
Anyone driving a 997TT got the same issue with Fidelity?
I called my local Porsche dealer and they recommended MaxCare (yes, the one from Carmax!). I did a search but found mostly awful reviews about them. Anyone here got any experience?
btw. No issues covering the 2011 TTS - 6 years / 60k miles / $100 deduct. $3,860.00
Thank you.

Re fidelity, my old 997tt is currently under their program. Perhaps it's something with that particular car?

I personally prefer a 6MT. But I really, really, loved the idea of the PDK, so I'm giving it a shot. So far the TTS has been awesome. I'll probably pick up a manual again in the future... don't think it will be a turbo though. Perhaps a GT3. IMO, high rev + 6mt = the best.
