Default There are two threads about Fidelity warranty

So I will post on this thread as well because it might help somebody get a good deal. Today I bought the Platinum 6 year, 60 thousand miles with $250 deductible for $3,420 today. My car is a 2008 997.1 tt with 16,100 miles. Mike Jourdan of Mossy Motors in New Orleans texted me a list of all the Fidelity possibilities. If you are in the market for a warranty, contact him.

I spoke with the lady that sold my Gold Plus coverage. She said that for older cars (07-08 porsche) a Platinum is unecessary as it only covers things like BT and nav and the tech that newer cars have. More electronics. So she actually recommended Gold Plus.

When you go to the site it says Platinum covers up to Gold Plus with the addition of "covering your vehicle’s assemblies unless listed under the Exclusions section of the Vehicle Protection Plan." (which is quite extensive).

It seems that this thread is primarily filled with warranty inquiries for 997.1 turbos. What are the community thoughts on fidelity platinum for a 2012 turbo S? I haven't really seen any catastrophic maintenance issues in the forums, please let me know if I'm misinformed. Also, would the fidelity warranty cover cracks or chips in the PCCB rotors?

no warranty covers wear and tear items such as brake rotors.

end of the day i'd be a nervous wreck owning one of these without a warranty, so I have 3 more years of peace of mind.

For those of you who have Fidelity, and have had to use it, was the process easy enough? In other words, you call, pre-arrange the coverage/appointment/service, they approve, they pay dealer, done? Or do you pay dealer, then file later for reimbursement?

And did it matter where you were having the service/repair done? I know what the primary documents say, just wondering about first-hand experience.

Considering Fidelity Platinum.

Thx.

in my previous 02 996 C2 with fidelity platinum- had Rear main seal leaking with few drops oil under car- Fidelity paid full labor/parts (less deductible) at dealer to pull trans repair RMS, install porsche bearing cover (not bearing)- also had minor item with 2nd key remote not unlocking car- they paid few hundred to fix whatever issue was-
also have fidelity platinum on wifes 07 987.1- few yrs back, fidelity paid to repair interior door handle that stopped working & a few other minor items on her car- her car now has 85k miles- once it exceeds 50k miles some of the normal wear items aren't covered -if u read the contract terms-
I've got fidelity platinum on 07 997.1TT but have not had to use it yet- & only have 31k miles on it now.
In my mind paying around $3.5- 4k for 6 or 7 yrs of coverage is worth peace of mind- only issue being fidelity seems to have out for not paying for some items when car exceeds 50k miles according to contract.

I got a 5 year Platinum warranty for my '09 TT. Only used it once (water pump), but that alone paid for it. Cost <$3K. 2 years left. Any major repairs are so damn expensive, to me it is worth it for the peace of mind. It does slow things down since Fidelity sends someone out to check on the repairs before approving coverage, but it worked out well (dealer repairs).

It's all the dealer. Fidelity is straight forward. if you read the "spun camshaft" thread I detailed a lot of my issues with the dealer. There can be a discrepancy in hours the dealer wants to charge vs. what Fidelity says it should take. Generally a dealer tries to take advantage. Also a dealer may give you a hard time about payment because they want you to pay and for you to get reimbursed by the warranty company which is BS and you should push back. Basically the dealer has to get everything validated and checked through the dealer, so the more efficient and honest the dealer is, the easier.

possibly, you generally need to get your car inspected before you can get the warranty. I did not have to get inspected because i just extended the warranty

If anyone is curious, here is the latest pricing from Mike Jourdan for a Fidelity warranty... (07, 997.1, 25.1k miles).

Platinum 6/60k ($250 deduct.) - $4785
Goldplus 6/60k ($250 deduct.) - $3796

Can't say enough about working with him. So easy.

i used my fidelity for my viper and they covered a new tranny even though the only problem i had was reverse wanting to pop out. still cost 1k for clutch and pressure plate.

haven't had to use it on the 997 yet. it would be nice to have them pay to get my pipes pinned

I may be wrong, but I had read that FIDELITY no longer sells extended warranty on porsche turbos.

FWIW: my daughter bought a new 2013 VW TDI 2.0 and she bought extended "VW" warranty and it turned out to be operated by Fidelity. When I turned her car back in under Dieselgate Fidelity gave me most of that initial purchase price back. And they were real good about it.

I bought a platinum in may (I think) for a 2008tt.
I used it once for a clutch slave cylinder & it was a good experience.
