Default Short Shift Kit, OEM or AM?

Any recommendations or experience with OEM or After Market short shift kits for my '09 997TT? The mod bug is way too overwhelming for my willpower and I'm looking to do an SSK and Exhaust within the next few weeks. I already have an APR tune so this should do me at least until my clutch fails.

Thanks!
Brandon

The only aftermarket SSK kit I would buy is from Numeric. But the factory SSK is amazing.

BTW, your OEM clutch will not last long with a tune, especially if you do hard launches. I ended up w. a Sachs Stage 2.5 and have been very happy with it.

Great info. Thanks ilko! I've been taking it moderately easy on the launches and hope to make the clutch last as long as I can get away with it. I'm especially carefully about downshifting first instead of going WOT at low RPM in 5th or 6th gear.

Is the engagement point/band on the Sachs 2.5 similar to OEM?

OEM SSK is a great investment, for a street driven car there is no better option.

Yes engagement point is same as OEM which sucks BTW, however the bite with Sachs is apparent, you will have to learn how to feather throttle on slow starts, uphills etc.

Overall both are excellent upgrades, only thing I would change is going the GT2 slave conversion route.

Ordered my OEM SSK today. Can't wait to get it in!

Does the GT2 slave conversion change the feel or engagement of the clutch or is it just less prone to failure?
