Depress clutch and intermittent no start
My 2011 turbo is intermittently telling me to depress the clutch to start when it is fully to the floor. Anyone encountered this or know the part number for the sensor?

Thanks EuroTom for posting the part. Even though it's covered under warranty I am going to order it in advance so I can be in and out in a day rather than wait for the dealer to order the part.
Yes, I checked to make sure the floor mat was not in the way.

No prob, your dealer should have the part in stock or can source it same day. I would let the dealer manage it for you, or at least tell them in advanced that you have a potential root cause and associated part numbers.
I'm suprised they're still using this same part on the 997.2's. Note the PN is a 996 prefix!!

which has the description of "depress clutch pedal" when it is bad. The no. 17
part you reference is the same switch on the brake and I was told it disconnects
the cruise when the clutch is depressed. Stood there with the parts guy while
he went through it. I guess I'll know in the am when I replace it but the parts
guy said he goes through a lot of the no. 16 switches and none of the no. 17,
didn't even have one in stock. FYSA.

There are three pedal switches on the 911 Carrera, two on the clutch pedal and one on the brakes. They get a lot of use, and they all have a tendency to fail once and a while. Replacement is really easy, and should take only about 30 minutes.
For the brake switch, the first step is to verify that your brake lamps are not working. If you’re by yourself, then wait until nighttime and back up against a wall. You should see the reflection off of the wall when you step on the brakes. If you don’t, then your switch is probably shot. It’s important to note that the switch has redundancy built in, and the warning system should tell you when your switch is failing, but this doesn’t always work.
The clutch pedal has two switches. One switch controls the cruise control (turns it off when you push in the clutch), and the other won’t let you start the car without the clutch pedal pushed in. The micro-switch only activates when the clutch is fully depressed where as the cruise control switch disengages the cruise control as soon as you begin to activate the clutch. If you’re having intermittent starting problems with your car, I would look at the micro-switch first.
Curious, but the cruise control switch is identical to the brake pedal switch except that the cruise control switch is red, and the brake pedal switch is a translucent brown. Both switches have three of the same the same part numbers printed on them.
The switches are relatively easy to access, as they are located right above the pedals. You will have to open the passenger door and then stick your head into the footwell to see them. You may find removing the knee panel gives you more room. Replacement is easy—simply unplug the harness from the end and then twist to remove the switch. If you need to manhandle and/or break the switch to remove it, that’s perfectly okay, since you will be replacing it with a new one anyways. The clutch pedal switch that prevents the car from starting is a standard micro-switch mounted with screws.

I need help:
Every time I try starting my car 997, I get the depress clutch message. I read the comments so I know what is wrong. My question is: do I need to disconnect the battery to change the micro- switch and can someone guide me on how to do replace it, step by step.
thank you,

My friend's 981 Spyder has same issue, but pedal system is different I think.
I guess 991 423 081 00 clutch servo part is faulty, but I am not sure.
No one is asked about 981 clutch depress starting issue.
Need help for this issue.

Three Wheelin'
Old thread, but easy to diagnose. If there is a micro switch on that car, simply disconnect the two leads and jumper them together. If the car starts normally and consistently, that is your problem.
