EP2 will be louder than EP1 (I have EP2 on a 6spMT) - but since he has a Tiptronic, I believe EP suggests EP1 since you'll get a lot of drone with the EP2 and the automatic transmission. Maybe he can find some local EP's and listen before making the decision. For some folks, drone will drive you crazy.

I have heard and driven both EP1 in my car, which I love, and EP2 in my friends car.
My partner has changed 2 other systems in his car.
He currently has a Sportech, swiss company, very expensive but he got a great deal for it used. Has pressure sensitive flaps and becomes louder at full throttle.

However, his previous system was a speedtech. http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/
This exhaust is significantly more high pitched, and loud, not in a low rumble level, but at WOT.
I believe they are a lot cheaper and may also fit the bill.
Leo, note that the faster you go, the more sound is left behind you, so you can only fully appreciate how loud a system is if you are outside the car, and it does a driveby with someone else!
My partners car is tuned, so it is faster than mine. On occasional spirited runs, leaving from a light, it was often that he was a few yards ahead of me. With my windows rolled down, the scream of the speedtech was quite something!
I have also read a few good things about the system you have now, I believe its a cross pipe, and those tend to be loud and aggressive. As I am afraid the EP may disappoint you in loudness relative to a catless cross pipe you have, I would suggest you try it with cats if you cant sell it without a loss. And when the time comes and if you come across a used EP2, give it a shot, but then the slight depreciation that you will get from the system you have now will also be matched with some utility which you havent yet had.
Good luck.

I think I need to hear it in person. The 2 option is just to put the original exhaust back on and take the car to the dealer.

I understand the concern about tune and warranty but is there something specific you're worried about? If the PCM stops working, having a tune shouldn't impact any warranty claim for that...but if you blow the engine with a tuned ECU, then yes, you'll probably have a problem...but that's a risk all of us take with a tune.

no problem it's just a matter of how they read and where they read.
removing cats DOES affect warranty, if you ever had engine problems.. put the cats back on..
after the cat=porsche doesn't care..
