Default Wheels!

Ok been researching and agonizing over which wheels I want

so far I have narrowed it down to the following requirements: must be deep concave, monoblock, like the mesh design and either 19s or 20s (keep hearing 20s are bad for ride and handling for our 997 TTs, true?)

here are the choices in current order of preference:

(please ignore colors as these I will likely get gun metal or similar)

1) ADV 7.1 DC: 19s or 20s
http://www.forgedforums.com/showthre...ith-this-997TT!!

2) HRE P40SC: 19s or 20s
http://execstudio.com/products/hre/P...orange_02.html

3) Monoblock B18: 20" (IMO 19s will look too small in this design)
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/f...-scuderia.html

4) D2 Forged MB1: 20s as I think 19s will look too busy

Looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts

I'm a Champion fan (RF67's on my Turbo). But of the list above, my fave is the B18's. Beyond that, very personal choice. What color is the turbo? Street or track? You are in SF, how are the roads?

so here's the car in question:

I also really like the B18's. I've seen pics of them on a TT in 19s and they look too small. The link of the 20s on the Ferrari look amazing.

What size are your RF67s ?

Out of that list, I'd go with HREs. Look at the relative weights and the number of those manufacturers that make wheels that are used in motorsports.

The Monoblock B18 look very much like the BBS FI to me.

I find that aftermarket wheels all look too small when the car is at the stock ride height.

I would agree that dished rims such as RG5's etc look odd on a car with stock ride height. Monoblock on the other hand are not a problem at all.....plus OEM rims are 19 monoblocks and they look fine. I think once the wheel has the lip it does something to the size of the wheel centre and makes the wheel look smaller than what it actually is.

I agree the Monoblock B18s and BBS FI are very similar, the spokes on the B18s go all the way to the edge while on the BBS they stop short and leave a lip. IMO without the lip they look larger and more aggressive on the B18s, but just my 2 cents

you're killing me! 1 step at a time, I can't sneak wheels, suspension, exhaust and a tune by the wife all at once. need to meter it in over a year or two

Ok now with that said which of these would look best with stock ride height? You mentioned HREs so 19s or 20s and why?

Wouldn't touch 20"s in any design personally. You'll only wind up compromising the handling of the car. Out of the bunch i'd go the HRE P43SC spoke in 19". Imo the P40SC's are a bit busy. The P40 non SC is far less complicated to the eye....but still the 43SC suits the car better hands down. That said if 20's are on the table it all comes down to whether the intention of the car is to be a show pony or a work horse as it was intended by the maker.

Don't count out Vorsteiner wheels. They make incredibly good forged 1 piece wheels. My 20" VS-110s on my CTT are just under 26lbs per wheel and the detail is fantastic.

Wheel Enhancement's site is a good place to look at wheels and they have lots of pics of the wheels installed (on the pages for each type of wheel). Several of my cars are pictured there. I still love the Champion RG5's on my 997S.

WE is also a great place to buy. Call Dave and I promise you that you will get completely honest advice and a very competitive price.

At one time I was thinking about 20's, but Dave talked me out of it. Road hazard issues, more expensive tires, and possibly handling issues.

My faves are the MB1 s from d2forged. However centers don't take stock p crests. Read a horror story at the 6 which turned me off.
I do like the ADV1s through! Prices all about the same?

Art, after deciding to get married finding the right set of wheels is the second most difficult decision, both for the same reason, too many options to choose from and expensive.

For your car I would not suggest a gunmetal finish as there is not enough contrast. My suggestion is something similar to the thread below.

http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...some-pics.html

As far as the "compromising ride" of the 20's that a debate that will never end just like the PCCB vs Steels, GT3 vs Turbo, Obama Romney. Come drive my car it's on 20's and I've never felt compromised.

thanks for the suggestion Tom, definitely need to see your wheels in person again and go for a ride on those 20s.

If I were to go with the spoke design you suggested I would probably go with something like these for the concave look... gotta have the concave for me

or

even deeper concave like these

I think I may have to add the ADV 10 to the list and replace the D2 Forged based on Nick's feedback
