Default Aftermarket LED tailights

I recently received and installed my new LED taillights. This is a topic which has not been discussed in this forum, and I think for reasons of proper indexing and searching, I would make a post.

I am very excited, I believe it updates the whole rear end. All issues with replacing filament bulbs with LEDs and the relevant resistor issues have been solved. As these were purchased from a sponsor of another forum, I will not be disclosing any info on the source.

Of course you are welcome to comment on the looks, I know some will like and some will dislike, but at the end of the day, this is a plastic part which can be changed back at any time. So novelty wins for me. When I am bored and my car becomes a classic, I will change them back!!

So this is how you gonna play it now Nick?

You 'll do one proper modification and then add a bling one? : )

In any case the exhaust is sooo nice that I am gonna let you get away with the LEDS with a "no comments".

Funny thing is that these are so popular now that Smart charges 600EUR to put them on the Brabus! Who started all this Led frenzy in cars? Can't remember..

I am anti bling, but I love the LED look.

So they fit the 07 perfectly? That easier than changing rear bumper to get that look. That guy did that probably not looking forward to reading this post. But then he has perfect OEM Match. There is something to that , also. OEM 997.2 Led taillights don't fit 997.1 , correct?

btw I sent you an pm did you get it

OEM doesn't fit, correct. Needs bumper change and some electronic reprogramming.

Yes I got your PM responded yesterday.

Proper pics from a proper camera, and after a bath.

Nick - looks great! How is the LED alignment? I see a few that are slightly off. Regardless, night and day improvement over stock

It's interesting that folks remark on the LED alignment - I never see my lights when I'm driving and I doubt folks following me say "looks like the LED's are out of alignment". I think they look great also.

Good eye! They are 90 or 95%... I think.
This is evident on pictures however, and not easily seen with the naked eye.
Look at the dark picture, they all look aligned. Thats pretty much the effect with no camera, or flash or external light sources.

Its ok. We are talking about a Tawanese part on an uber German car. It should be scrutinized for quality. However, I think that it was worth the compromise, of 95% aligned for the look.

There are a few people that have asked for a similar product for the 996 which is apparently not available. Having said that, I am sure I have seen 996 tails with led lights. Any help from our newest moderator and king of 996 modifications? Mr SLOW? care to chime in?

Well, it's easy to do when you are spending almost $1k and certainly don't want to be stuck with defective product. In terms of alignment, Dianic's lights look much better than mine. Hopefully, factory will do better job on the next batch.

Sbkim, I am sure the seller would make good on the warranty if you think your product is below average in quality... have you discussed?

Yes, we've talked so hopefully he will come through with warranty. Overall, am very happy with the lights.
