In a nutshell, the .1 Mezger is the GT1 race derived engine detuned for civilian use, meaning it can withstand high power tresholds when tuned up. The DFI, is a tuned up, non rebuildable consumer grade engine, with a lower theshold for power. The bean counters in Porsche will never allow such expensive greatness to be bolted on street cars again, most buyers just dont know, nor they care to appreciate so why bother.
