Hey All,

While my foremost passion is BMWs, moreover Ms, I also have a strong affinity for Porsche, specifically the 911 lineage. I have been quietly looking for an immaculate black 997.1 GT3, and after an exhaustive search, found my huckleberry. It is easily the most immaculate example I have seen. I have a neurotic tendency to discern even the most acceptable of cosmetic flaws on cars and could not find any on this beauty. It literally looks as though it has yet to be driven despite it being a 2008 model with 12K miles. Service records are impeccable, vehicle history is pristine and it hasn't been within 1000 nautical miles of a body shop. I have not verified whether or not the coolant lines have been pinned or welded, and if not, will have such done forthwith. It remains unmolested (for now ) but for the following modifications:

1. Custom clear bra - front protection
2. TechArt nost lift kit
3. Passport 9500ci integrated system

As for planned modifications, not quite sure yet. I am only contemplating coilovers, HREs and the Sharkwerks race exhaust (until I am convinced otherwise). I have no intention of tracking this vehicle, just another Sunday cruiser. I would be interested to know if any of you are familiar with this vehicle. Cheers!

GORGEOUS 997.1 GT3. Lovely accents with the red dials! The car is pristine. I am going to try a Shark race exhaust on my 997.2 when I get it! Since mine will be a weekend cruiser, I think the sound will be acceptable even though apparently it is really loud! (I want to hear that Mezger)

Thank you. I was in the market for some time, patiently stalking a number of GT3s. As for the loudness of the exhaust, to your point, its a weekend vehicle and therefore the more rapacious the exhaust note, the better. Even with the Shark race exhaust, it will be significantly quieter than several of my cars, most notably my F10 M5, which presents straight pipes from the turbos back (RPI); wicked sound.

My '11 RS had an integrated Escort unit. Two laser shifts behind front grille, GPS under front hood grille, tiny "rice grain" on-indicator light in overhead console, light bar graph mounted on r/v mirror, control unit in console ashtray, usb socket in fuse panel (for software updates), rear license frame mounted sensor and head unit mounted in left driver kick panel next to fuse box. No instructions and couldn't figure out how to turn it on! Decided I really didn't need it so traced all wires out from head unit and removed everything accessible except units behind front bumper. Last wire traced was found to be an on/off switch under dash!
Duh! Researched and learned that install in '11 would of been $3,500, now $5k.

Stunning car... Congrats on the find.

So after being an BMW M guy... what are your initial impressions of the GT3?

Thank you. And I can very much relate to the tendency to be too picky!

I am still and will always be an M-guy! My current stable includes an F10 M5, e92 M3, F15 X5M and an e34 M5. All of which are built to the extreme but for the e34, for obvious reasons. As for comparing the Ms to the 911 platform, it's a bit difficult as there are myriad disparities, especially when examining an M5. The closest proxy to the 997s is the e92 M3, and even then, my specific comparison isn't very telling as the M3 is pushing nearly 700 HP by way of a centrifugal SC. This said, in stock form, the M3 acquits itself with dignity next to the GT3, but in terms of pure racing DNA, there really is no comparison; the GT3 is far superior. I have previously owned 2 GT3s and one GT2. Utterly regret selling any of them!
