the 997RS 4.0L was as close as you could get to a cup car on the street at the time.
With limited build numbers it was expensive to begin with.
It is a simple and fun 911 hot rod from the factory.
It is the last of the analog 911.
For less then half price you can get a 997RS 3.8L if you want to drive the car as opposed to parking it.

134 miles. To own a car like that and not drive it. No thanks. Those memories would have been priceless.

That is a staggering price for a great car. That is pristine Carrera GT money! Love to have one but priced like that Carrera GT will be in my garage first.
I am traveling and in Cleveland today and was in Beechmont Porsche and they have a new R ($230k MSRP) in black still all wrapped in delivery plastic and stickers. 15 feet away is a pair of Ferrari's (512 and FF) and 150 feet back on a lift a red 918 and a white GT3RS - some fine hardware in 200's radius of one another! Out on the pre-owned lot in the rain was a 2011 RS (Gray/red) with 10K miles (asking $210k).
Lots of nice cars, always fun to make a impromptu stop and see what they have!

Yes the 4.0 is an amazing car with the maximum HP and limited qty. but IMO the 997.2 3.8L is the second great car built on the platform. They are a bargain by comparison and damn near as good as the 4.0..... I believe these were the last great 911's with proper gearbox, steering feel and driver engagement.... not to mention the hand brake is in the correct location
