Default COBB Tuning 997.1 GT3 E85 Off The Shelf Maps

A recent update for the Porsche platform here at COBB Tuning included significant updates to our Accesstuner for Porsche software to help improve workflow for Certified Protuners utilizing the Accesstuner Pro for Porsche tuning suite. An added bonus to this release is the release of Off The Shelf Maps compatible with E85 fuel for the 997.1 GT3.

Two new maps are now available for the 997.1 911 GT3. Accessports with firmware version 1.7.3.0-14045 or newer. They can also be downloaded from the COBB Website.

Mechanical configuration requirements are the same as existing Stage 1/2 OTS maps, the only change being fuel type.
  • Stage 1 E85 v101.ptm
  • Stage 2 E85 v101.ptm
Additional information can be found on the Map Notes Page.

An example of gains possible using E85 can be seen in the dyno chart below.

The stock fuel system on a GT3 can handle the increased overhead of E85? What kind of duty cycle are you seeing on the injectors ?

Good questions,

The maximum IDC recorded was 87.3%. This was at an injection time of 12.91ms at 8100RPM. VE begins to trail off the closer the car gets to redline so the actual IDC at 8500RPM was only 83.5%

For those interested, below is a ling to a datalog of the entire dyno pull in 4th gear with more detail. I have uploaded it to DataZap for you guys to play around with if you wish.

Thanks! Please let us know if you have any further questions!

Those are some serious gains. How does that compare to OTS 93oct?

Also curious about 997.2

Doesn't the factory RSR run on VP E85? Since 2015 I think? It would be interesting to find out details from the factory if they make it available. Long term/prolonged use is what would concern me.

BTW, in Brazil, many cars run on 100% Alcohol, since around 1980-most gas stations there have had the option for decades, and tuners with turbos enjoy the availability. In the early development days when the Brazilian government decided to develop the program, corrosion was the main problem. 2 years ago I was there and I saw a turbo Suzuki Hayabusa running 100% Ethanol, I believe around 300 hp

Will the 997.2 be a candidate soon?

good stuff - curious also on 997.2 as well. also does your dyno read really low? 324 just sounds very low RWHP for a 997.1 GT3, that's a huge % loss to the wheels.

This is from a Mustang Dyno. Every dyno is a bit different so we always tend to focus on percentage increases rather than power numbers. A percentage increase will be universal across dynos.

I will say that I can confirm the 997.2 GT3 fuel system can indeed support E85. However, we only had a short time to test this and would not be confident in a full map release on our limited data. A Cobb Porsche ProTuner should be able to custom tune for ethanol however.

Would love an answer to this as well. Thanks

COBB: from your website it looks like the same map is applicable for both 997.2 RS and GT3. Peak hp gain for an RS is in the 30hp range for an OTS 93 octane tune. Seems almost too good to be true, if I'm reading correctly. Am I missing something? Btw, Love your products way back in my STI days...and am glad that you guys are offering products for Porsche GT cars.
