Default PCCB wear at 56K miles and track days

Changed my steel brake lines and PCCB after a bunch of track days and some AX days. Heavy L.A. traffic - car is at 56k miles.

Very little wear - I really didn't have to change them at all. The steel cables had no cracking or rot, but I figured it's preventative maintenance.

Pics below

Old pad on left - Exact same Factory Pagid pads on right. Maybe 40% wear at bottom - very little on top.

Now you know. If you continue to use the new set in the same manner, you could flip them at 30K miles and get much more mileage.

I'm almost at 50K miles with my PCCBs and will likely flip them around 60K miles. I don't track and they had a bit more than 1mm wear on the highest wear sides at 40K miles.

Rotors looked essentially new - no pitting/discoloration/cracking. Wheels are back on, but I'll sneak a reprentative pic between the spokes.

My understanding of measuring "life" of carbon ceramics was to weigh them, compared to new.

is this wrong?

it isn't wrong. but a visual inspection is sometimes all you need...

This one is in great shape, no need to measure anything frankly to reach that conclusion:

And this one you can tell is well on its way out:

latest generations (991) require porsche tool to measure the rotors.
The 997 have wear indicators. When those are 'rough' (there are 3 circles on the face) the rotors are done. Each is a different thickness of friction material.

Give me your car for a weekend at the track I'll get those pads worn in :-)

LOL. After a few track days my pads are toast. Fortunately, if I catch it quickly enough I can just flip them as they wear very unevenly.

I hear if PCCBs are properly warmed up, they can last on track days
