James Bond GT3 Upgrade.....
Say this with an "evil euro villain" accent: "Zat looks very stew-pid Mr Bond! You should not try to convert your GT3 into a boat!"
Well, I am doing my best here in the hot Nevada desert during the summer (too hot for the track)....So it's time to put the GT3 in the air and perform some surgery.
It is a rather ambitious project, but things need to be put right on my "new to me" 997.2 GT3. More photos to come....
- Five lug conversion with new 19" Forgeline GA3R wheels and RE-71R's
- Full KW Motorsport Coil-overs (Purchased from Rennlister: bmwtye....Thank you Sir!)
- New two piece rear control arms with Tarett monoball ends and solid thrust bushings
- New Rennline Rear Toe links and dog-bones
- New OEM Thrust arms for the front (Cup Car lower control arms already in place up front)
- New StopTech Front "Trophy" Brake kit (will upgrade the rear next year)
- Full undercarriage cleaning and plastic panel repairs
Lots to do!
Cheers

LOL! Ah yes....my old 80s double cassette radio.....I don't even know how it got into my new garage....it should have been tossed years ago.
It is interesting to note that it is not even plugged in (I guess I am subliminally sentimental!!!).
The actual soundtrack for my garage work comes from a mini BOSE system connected to an old iphone belting out rock from the 60s,70s,80s, and 90s.

Well, just like "TPC Tom" has demonstrated.....the only way to clean your undercarriage is lots of time and hard work.
Also, critrus cleaners, brushes (tooth, nail, and brass bristle), rubber gloves, and a disposable (recyclable) cardboard mat are your friends here.
This takes care of road grime, baked on brake dust, residual oil and grease, and brightens up the cast aluminum pieces. I figured this would be easy with everything apart, not so, because there is more to do!
Once done you can treat the cast aluminum with a light film of WD-40....spray on, gently wipe and work in.
The critrus cleaner works well with a brass brush on cast aluminum, and plastic brush on plastic parts. A spray bottle with water rinses of the loose grime and cleaner on to the cardboard mat surprisingly well.....no need to pressure wash and flood your garage.
I left the rear strut in place (as a plug) for cleaning the wheel well.....it is now in the used parts pile.
Happy scrubbing!

have any of you guys used a steam cleaner for suspension & motor cleaning?
Just prior to my guy installing the PPF film on my 7.2-3, his detailer guy used a steam cleaner to wisk away grim off my calipers. WoW that worked good. FAST & easy.
My wife also has a steam cleaner that I've seen her use in the house (she probably has it stashed somewhere cuz she knows that once I figure out I can use it on the cars,...). Gotta go find that & see if it has attachments.

Thank you! The New Garage was last summer's project....now it is time to get some real work done.
Sure helps to have a full size lift!
Also, I measured the previous alignement settings before eveything was torn down.....needless to say the alignments specs will be changed significantly.

After a good run of undercarriage cleaning and organization, it was finally time to begin new component assembly and chassis reassembly.
Putting the new suspension links together is fun work, until you get to the little rubber booties.....after two successful installs by hand, I had a blister on my left index finger.....time for a new method.
I was also able to use a friend's 12 Ton press, to remove the CL hubs from the wheel carriers, and press in the new bearings and new 5 lug hubs.
Now, it is starting to look like a car again!
