I have totally opposite of you. I felt the 997 with the right exhaust is way more violent than the 991 due to mid range TQ. I was disappointed with the 991 around town cuz the limits are too high and you need to rev the crap out of it to feel fast. The 997 punches you hard at 4k RPM! But no doubt the 991 is faster.

damn this RS bug.

i'm already looking to see if i can score a 991RS. just need the 7.2GT3 values to go up another 5-10%

I agree....997RS and 964 are much more fun to drive in most situations, to me, than the 991 GT3.

Newer is almost always better in the context of the present. Whether it's for you is another question...

oh, the ranking was just 997 vs 991 as per OP question.
i do like AC
but they are totally different.
stock to stock, they are slow as hell.
i take them to brunch and drive really slow while checking out the 20 year olds

Totally agree. If you can have one of each flavor, that's the ideal. I think 997 is my sweet spot but still love 964 and long-hood platforms too and finally warmed up to owning a 991rs. Like em all. It's a sickness.

I am looking at a f-car dealer 45k mile Scud which had been serviced every 3 years, 20k in the first 2 years 10k in the next 2 and then more modest usage thereafter. never had an F-car before, what do you guys think of it?

Sounds like fun, not a virgin! But, should be cheaper than the bubble wrapped ones and you don't have to worry about putting miles on it.

keeping the rs. if my bargaining skills are worth their chops, I'll be trading in the Gt4 for little more to get the scud.

Somehow, I prefer the older (relatively speaking) metal. Think we peaked with the 997.2 RS and 4.0 RS.
