Most, if not all, mechanic jobs have a standard time for that particular job. Say, three hours for an oil change even if the clock time is two hours.

Me, of all people, are defending the dealer a bit here as there is no way, even with a lift, the actual work time is 15 mins. I'd say 1-1.5 hours in my uneducated opinion.

And as others have said, the lift costs money and the tech has to be paid and the dealer is not shopping for (or going to give you) the lowest price for parts.

I change the oil in my Cayman (8 qts,) for about $30 (M1 0w40 is cheap when on sale and AR). That does not include the cost of my Race Ramps, which are required. An indy shop would be ~$225 and my local dealer ~$350.

God luck whatever you do with your next oil change.

You US guys are as lucky with these prices as with gas.

Oil + filters for my Turbo here in Sweden at PC dealer is $1000+! Major is $2200+!

I would love to be able to cut cost but nobody would buy my car if I did everything myself. No stamp = no value on the car!
