Please do. IIRC, the oem part is a female torx - PITA.

Straight up race oil! Not recommended for street driving-correct ?

I posted a thread on Napa's sale on Mobil 5W-50, $5.79 a quart

The only cheaper route is Mobil 0W-40 from Valmart $33 total
Filter from Advanced Auto around $8

Can't get cheaper than that. Return used oil to auto parts store

In dealers defense (blasphemy!) you're paying for lift time. Not wrenching time. Any car on a lift means another car can't be on a lift. Opportunity cost and all that. So 15 min wrenching makes no diff when car takes an hour on the lift.

Same biz plan as dentists' chair time. Anyway, moving on....

sounds like you paid ~$380 in labor

This...Mobil 1 5 quart jugs at Walmart are usually 23-25 on sale so oil is 50 bucks, filter is 15 bucks, washers 5 bucks. Should be able to DIY for 70 easily. Even if you paid an indy shop $150 for an hour of labor it's still nowhere near 400 or 460.

300v has a detergent package in it and can be used as a street oil but not for extended change intervals like other oils...3k intervals was a general recommendation if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's a great fit as a street oil for most people but it's a fantastic track / street oil.

I change the oil without lifting the car, plastic kitty litter box is low and takes all 9.5 quarts
Male or Mann filter at Advance auto is less than $10
But, since I now have an Audi S3 DD, that oil filter can't easily be found, so I order all filters online, which are of course 3 times cheaper than the dealer-
I've personally stuck with 5W-50 for the GT3, Audi doesn't have it listed as approved so I get the 0W-40 from Walmart- the 5qt jug is about $22 and the S3 only needs 6qts
GT3 can take the 0W-40, listed as factory used on Cup cars-
But I prefer the 5W-50 for Fl weather

Shop has been using Motul 75-140 gear oil as a Delvac alternative and I really like it in my transmission. Shifts fantastic hot and cold is better than Delvac.
So just tried the 300v as something to try.
On the 300v, well, over 400 miles on track last week and car runs good.
No weird noises on cold startup.
HOT oil pressure seems a bit higher on the gauge at idle than Torco SR5R like 1.5bar vs. 1.0 bar.
Checked data logging of oil temps/pressures on track and they are the same (with similar ambient temps)

We'll pull a sample and compare the viscosity and wear metals. I change oil every 4-5 track days. Excessive? Maybe.

Thing i'm looking for is shearing after this kind of use.

I wouldn't run this as a street oil due to the comments above.

The oil change cost you indicate is somewhat high but not outrageously so. An oil change in my GT3 RS4 was about 415$ last month at a local Porsche dealer here in Houston. The cost for my 2013 Turbo is about 25$ less.

400$ for an oil change is outrageous.

The about 400$ oil change cost for my GT3 RS4 and Turbo is what all the three Porsche dealers here in Houston charge. The cost to change the oil in my 1984 Carrera is about 200$ done at an independent shop. Porsche dealers here will not work on the air cooled cars.

If you think a 400$ oil change cost is outrageous, compare to the 650$ cost to change the engine air filters (there are two) in the GT3 RS4.
