Sticky controls on 7.1 PCM
Curious if anyone else has experienced sticky control ***** on their PCM? Is there a way to renew them to original condition or do they need to be replaced. If so, does anyone know if they are available as replacement parts from Porsche? Thanks!

I had a remote control with that sticky rubberized crap and I used some 90% isopropyl alcohol on a rag and the goo came right off and left a nice smooth hard plastic underneath...m

the .1 has sticky ***** and the .2 is starting to get that way as well. Don't know why, I just leave the radio off, problem solved.

Thanks, I'll try the alcohol and see what happens. Maybe the extreme temperatures 100+ here in TX is causing certain plastic/rubber materials give off a residue?

i rubbed mine off with a rag and now it's hard plastic smooth and looks brand new. I could probably buy another **** but I rarely drive the car and when I do, I don't listen to the radio.

Thanks Spyerx....I just got my ***** drunk on 90 proof and they are like new again.
I dont listen to the radio and the nav is completely useless, but at least it's nice to know that my controls don't feel like they have maple syrup on them anymore.

Don't waste your time trying to clean them. Just replace them.

This is very common on most plastic interior parts, switches, and ***** of 1990-2008 Ferraris.
https://stickynomore.com has developed a repair industry for these.
Replace them and be thankful those are the only Porsche parts affected
It could be worse - Look at these expensive prices to refinish :

Still a great company for other things larger than the tiny little radio *****.
The good thing about removing the sticky on the ***** is that after you do that, it will match the feel and look of all the other radio buttons.
