IPA does the trick. It looks like the controls are sticky because the original soft touch finish melt or somehow dissolves partially due to age and chemical contact. It looks like the IPA basically takes off the remains of the soft touch finish (which is now sticky) and you are left with a nice black, non-stick plastic ****. Don't buy new, just fix yours. Why waste money and add plastic to the landfills.

The ***** simply pull off the radio, so you can easily clean them, then stick them back on.

Do the white lines of the buttons stay or does the entire button turn black after taking off the substance?

That's how it should have been from the factory.

Now if only this worked on the AC controls (fan speed/temp)

NP.
Pop them of, that way you can really pour on the IPA.
I used a mocrofiber towel, works really well.

Do all the PCM ***** pop off by pulling them? I thought it had an allen wrench screw or something-

I cleaned mine in place, they weren't too bad

I had the same problem with sticky *****. They pop off with some steady pulling just with your fingers. There is a small spring on the back of the ***** that you don't want to lose. Cleaned the ***** with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol) tonight and pushed them right back on. The ***** feel like new - smooth hard plastic. Could not have been any easier or cheaper to do.

What you're feeling are the plasticizers. They are chemicals added to soften the PVC. And no, the ***** should not be sticky but whoever specced the system effed up. PVC is used to make, for example, the white pipes for water irrigation systems but it is rigid and doesn't contain plasticizers. The charge cord for your iPhone is PVC that has been softened with plasticizers. But they aren't sticky because the engineers did it right. Rant over.

Ordered new ***** from dealer for .2RS. They came in three pieces: the cover dial, the chrome ring and the black plastic attached with the clear plastic backing but there is no spring on the clear plastic.

Need some help from the experts- I have pulled and pulled and cannot remove the radio buttons. Took a small screw driver and tried to pry- no luck.. I did manage to remove the center cap which exposed a metal piece but doesn't appear to be removable. What am I doing wrong?

The center metal section looks like it has a hole but with magnifying glass I cannot see any edges to use a torx or allen wrench
