bank on $3500-4500 for pinned and sharkwerks kit depending on labour rate in your area.
Also a good time to do other things when engine is out.
Plugs, coils, water pump.
Might be a good idea to buy all new hoses too.

There seems to be quite a wide variation in what it costs to drop the motor for the coolant pipe fix, pinning being a bit cheaper. If I had only done the welding, which requires more of the motor to be disassembled than for pinning, it would have cost about $2.5K, maybe a little less. I added replacing the "consumables" when the motor was out. I used the above mentioned BBI inserts and the Sharkwerk's pipe. I suspect a lot of the variation is what a shop has to charge for overhead, plus maybe some for "what the market will bear."
From what I read from what the owners who track a lot say, other than the potential coolant pipe loss, the Mezger motors are pretty much bullet proof. I am used to the understressed motors in my other vehicles going well over 200K+ and more miles with only good preventive maintenance so perhaps Mezger motors are capable of the same.

Great thanks, that gives me a point of reference. Plugs were recently done so will change water pump also. I didn't think to ask about coolant pipe repair before I purchased but either way sounds like it needs to be addressed. I'm picking up my gt3 this week, maybe I get lucky and find pipes were already welded. Happy thanksgiving to all.

My challenge is finding shop in the Cincinnati area that has done this repair. There aren't a whole lot of gt3s in cincy. Anyone from the area have any reccs?

Or bring it up to Columbus. A local independent shop here, Auto Assets, has done a dozen or more cars at this point.

If a shop cannot weld the pipes, it can be shipped to us and we can prep, clean, and pressure test it here and ship it back.

Thanks for all the advice, looks like I got some good options, I know the guys at village porsche well but I'm sure wrightmotorsports would also be a great option given their racing experience. Having owned a 996 x50 previously I didn't realize turbos were also affected.
