Eight years old and still loving it
Living in China, I don't get much chance to drive the 997.1 very often back in North America, but when I do, it's such a treat. It reminds me why I work so hard. I bought her new and she's now eight years old and running strong.
Before pulling it out this time, I had the shop pin the coolant fittings, fix a ticking noise (was a lifter), and replaced the clutch and motor mounts while I was in there. The clutch was barely worn and the motor mounts were fine too.
Here are a few pics from the last outing:

For me the 997.1 is the best GT3/RS gen so far.
Enjoy it.

997.1 pros:
- Cleaner, more classic look
- Engine feels a bit more manic and exciting; has a big torque jump at ~4k RPM
- Suspension feels more raw
991.2 pros:
- LED lights will look fresh for years to come
- More low-end torque
- More comfortable suspension

I wouldn't say .1 is the best.
.2 is better than .1, period, no argument there.
.1 is more bang for the buck.
