Default FVD

Hello everyone, just curious on everyone's opinion on FVD. Just been doing some research on available tuning upgrades for 997.2 RS.

For example http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/94...r_997_GT3.html
Has anyone tried this intake at all.

I also see they have some exhaust/bypass options as well, anyone tried these.

I like the bypass, the complete exhausts would be a nice choice-

Intake from anyone but porsche would be a waste of time. Upgrade to a 3.8 Box, 4.0 box, or cup 3.8. Will require a new deck lid.

If you scroll down to the Intake section, you'll note that at least one expert thinks there are better things to spend your upgrade dollars on...

I figured about the intake. I have a 2010 Gt3 RS and they do have a good exhaust selection. The side muffler bypass looks interesting.

IMO the value or not of aftermarket intakes can not be proven on a dyno.
You can not simulate the car doing 120 mph on a dyno to assess the ram air effect and potential increase HP.
Best you can evaluate on track is any increase your mph at the end of moderate to long straights ... then you know you've got a few more ponies.

assume you're talking air box right? yeah, probably. i'm stock engine and run stock air filter and air box. intake runners, plenum, etc are another story, the 3.6 intake will choke the engine on big 4.0/4.2l builds. Yours is a 4.0 setup? 3.6 vs 4.0 intake (not the air box, the intake) is a massive difference, it's huge compared.

OP: If you want power, don't bother with that KN thing. Without ripping these things apart, the only way you're going to get any measurable power increases is high flow cats, less restrictive exhaust, and a tune like cobb or other. The gains aren't huge, but are there.

Yes I was referring to air intakes.
I will say we found excellent air flow and efficiency with the Fabspeed CF twin cone intake. Must qualify though, Champion fabricated a CF air box that seals totally with the 997.1 decklid. My decklid has dual openings on the underside.

OP, that intake will not work on a .2 RS. The .2 RS has dual inlets, the KN kit has single. The KN one is designed for Gen 1 GT3 and GT3 RS and Gen 2 GT3 only.

To get more power I'd recommend doing an ECU tune and SW/Evo MS Headers. On dyno charts they seem to give good HP results. SW also sells an intake/ air box that will fit the .2 RS decklid with little to no modification. They're sourced from Europe somewhere and I think the prices there are lower as well. You can search the forum.

Thanks for the info and help everyone. I picked up a Cobb a couple of weeks ago, well worth the $1000.
I have been doing research on the whole exhaust/bypass product line.
I do like the sound of the RSS Xpipe.http://rss.rpmware.com/rss/rss-gt3-x...px?aid=9265208
Also, is the side muffler delete from FVD something that is recomended?
