I saw a GT Silver today..... That is how my 991 RS is being built in late summer.
It appears over-revs are a big issue for Porsche. This particular car only has 3,000 miles but one level 4 over rev so Porsche will not cover motor warranty or certify it if they took it in trade. Always important to do proper PPI and understand consequences of collected data

I did some extensive searching through all the posts both on and off rennlist and when i got my gt2 it was not certifiable secondary to the higher range overrevs, even though it was an exceedingly low number. 11 in range 4.
Main points i came away with were
1. Turbo mezgers commonly show up with stage 3/4 even 5s more so than the NA gt3/rs
2. The rpm range for aforementioned range overrevs happens much lower in the turbos
3. If the offending range happened >50 engine hours ago you should be ok
4. According to my dealer, this is a relatively new policy by porsche not to cpo the vehicle
Here was a nice UK off site review I also found helpful.

I also curbsided the resident experts on the board, via pm, thanks guys and took the plunge. I called three techs, one in town, one in michigan and in oregon. Everyone said I was good except my local dealer, go figure.
Good luck, fantastic collection, gt2 rs would be a great addition.

here's an 08 white gt2, price seems out of range, but i like the white/black contrasting elements

Given your collection rs would be most complementary

GT2 RS will pair well with 4.0
over rev of 1 in range 4 is not of worry
unless it's not driven, turbo p car hit range 4 very easily.

Burning Brakes
To me the 1 in range 4 is of zero worry. Like it was mentioned OSU, Porsche in the last 18 months or so changed the guidelines for CPO. But the Mezger is very durable. I have several clients with 2RS's and they love them next to the other toys.

GT2 over rev ranges at different threshold than GT3's. GT2's can easily tap range 3's just bouncing off the limiter. Some have reported 4's off of rev limiter bounce and I have no problem believing that. If you find a GT2 without range 3's, you've found a GT2 that has never been driven :-) I would not let a small number of old 4's phase my decision in the least. Good luck.

I have a GT2RS which I have not driven in quite some time because every time I go into my garage I always want to drive my 964RS instead. Don't get me wrong the GT2RS is an awesome car but I enjoy the purity of the air cooled much more.
