I was greatly pleased when He died young of Cancer from his smoking. So for 40 years everything associated with that awful experience for me is just so tainted even to this day.

VA's ruthless persecution of trivial speeding is just vindictive.

I love living for the past 19 years in Upstate South Carolina, which has reasonable traffic enforcement. As an aside, I have only visited Texas a few times, and for many years have thought if I had to move to another state, I would like to live in Texas.

As for me, I run a Escort Redline detector, but stay maybe 8-10 mph above an Interstate limit, and only briefly exceed that when merging or needing to move around a slow vehicle. On some of the curvy very rural roads in my area, i do pick it up a bit.

Screw Virginia.

All the best....
You don't know what your missing.....

I've driven the Austin toll road in the video on my way to COTA and let's just say that there is room to play.

I assure you.... They make radar detectors that are NOT detectable to police...

Bell STI has paid for itself time and time again.. There IS NOTING to stop instant on... You need a rabbit or some traffic to catch those hits..

It was mentioned that east VA is worse than Western VA... I have tickets from all over the state... I wouldn't test that theory on I77 through Fancy Gap. Ticked for 71 in a 65 3 years ago... I am confident the local Sheriff Dept collect's more revenue from speeding than Tax's.

Without doubt, the 2 biggest speed traps in state of VA.

I95 through Emporia as soon as you cross NC border.
177 through Fancy Gap. As soon as you come up the hill from NC.

If tomorrow every driver went the speed limit in VA they would begin pulling you over for something other than speeding. They rely on the revenue.

I wouldn't say it is a east va west va problem. This is a NOVA problem (northern VA for those of you out of staters). NOVA is where this person got caught. It's in NOVA where all the cops are a$$holes.

That sir is a pretty ignorant statement! Myself and 99.9% of all other LEO's throughout the country risk life and limb each day to serve and protect you...

as a pediatrician, many of my families have a mom or dad in LE, and we often talked about this and that, esp firearms, as I am a competitive shooter of both rifle and pistol. Even shoot sometimes with LE parents. I have always found LE men and women to be good friends, with sometimes a hazardous and often boring job. But it must be onorous for LE to have to enforce laws they might find a waste of time and place, when there are other more pressing needs for safety and enforcement than out looking for low risk speeding. It wouldn't be so dangerous for drivers if the penalties were not so severe in VA.

Me, my first ticket was for challenging an unmarked police car to a drag race in a tiny rural Nebraska town in my TR4 in '66, he turned on his light when I was doing about 75 in a 25 mph zone at the edge of town. Wrote out a $25 check on the hood of his patrol car.

The other one was a night time speed trap in a small town in backwoods Missouri, in about '85. But I don't drive stupid, and never ever with alcohol consumption. What i have noted especially in the last few years, is the dangerous increase in drivers running red lights.

I do have great respect for LE and what they do, but feel the extreme legislative punishment for trivial speeding is unwarranted, and VA is one of the worst for it.

All the best...
