Same here. MPSS are a great street tire. I was not impressed at all on the track with them. RE-11's are better on the track, but are heavy and noisy. AD08's are a great all-around tire.

Here's another suggestion - move somewhere where it rains less!

Think the track 'issues' with MPSS is dialing in the temp/pressures, they can be as great on track as on road and only give up the tinyest bit to Cups on track while murdering them for life and wet grip. MPSS are more sensitive to changes than the Cups but I wouldn't go back.

Make your decision on reality, how many track to road miles will you REALLY do plus how big are your pockets and you will have your answer. ~4000 miles on a set of Cups is madness.

You're not the only person to make a statement like this, which is why I bought a set of mpss, expecting the be wow'd and ended up disappointed.

After driving on a set of mpss on track with a brz and cayman R, I just can't agree with these statements on how they only give up a tiny bit to cups. The datalogs show peak sustained G to be no better than Michelin primacy HP (Prius) tires. Treadwear rating on mpss is 300, primacy Hp is 260, and mpsc is only 80. Mpss are total garbage on track compared to a 100 treadwear rating NT01 tire.

Maybe mpsc are total garbage tires as well, but mpsc2 are supposed to be better than nt01. Maybe mpss in gt3 sizes are much better.... I dunno....

I'm not saying there aren't better dedicated tyres out there for either the track or the road (all conditions), but a daily driven street car in an inclement climate the MPSS is the choice unless talking snow and ice then you need to run M&S tyre sets in narrow sizes, same goes for track- near slicks will be better for dry track.

I won't be drawn on the tyre pressures, they differ for each outing and each track/location and change with driver style. Suggest you drop a few PSI from OEM, do a few laps, stop and check/reduce pressures- its a juggling act.

I have these tires on my 08, no complaints, and good to see the sentiment is the same here.

I need to replace rears (will do PSS), fronts have 3500 miles on them. Any handling issues with just replacing rears tires? Also, any advantage to ordering via Damon at Tire Rack...does he offer buy 1, get one free?

I've been rolling around on my MPSC tires since buying my RS in May of 2013 and live in similar climate to him (meaning, lots of rain). I am very uncomfortable driving in the rain with the MPSC tires and have been caught out a few times.

My good friend has MPSS also on his GT3 and his offer not only fantastic rain channeling, but are more comfortable too (probably due to the tread blocks being so much larger). I'll replace my current MPSC tires with the MPSSs when I need to, but will at least take a cursory look at the MPSC2 tire as I don't know as much about it.

+1 for pilot super sports. They are in the league of their own. I'd put them on everything that does not see track is sizes were available.

I like my Hankook RS3's for the street. Look for the new version (v2), they have a little more grip that the previous version.

R888 have a small window where they are great and heat cycle out much quicker on track than MPSS's.

I have AD08R's and am quite happy, need to try them on a track when the rainy season finally dies down in South FL.
