Is Analog with Tubes still going to beat out the newer Super 600 Billion Bit sampling technologies?

Still have my two 1200s at my moms house - if ya know what I'm talking about. But still I paid more for the last set of needles than I did when I bought them in 1991. And even back then they wanted $300 per table.

But all that crap is antiquated tech compared to mp3s and Seranos - if you're a DJ that is.
But what if you want listen to The Planets with the most superior sound? It's not going to be on MP3 on coming off a computer.

First, the $499k price is ridiculous, yes. But also, it's not exactly priced for the US market. The car is in Germany (per the listing).

That instantly eliminates most buyers in the US, especially considering we already have a few on the market (that are sitting for a while -- specifically a 6000+ mile example that's been on the market for over 3 months, originally starting much higher, but now down to $340k).

Right now, just "publicly" known examples on the US market, I'm aware of a 575mi, a 701mi, a 1989mi, a 2400mi, a 5100mi, a 6180mi, and an 11190mi car.

To clarify my "it eliminates most buyers in the US" comment... I wouldn't buy a 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 from Europe, but I'd buy a 993 RS or a 993 GT2 (and suffer through the importation process). I suspect many US buyers / collectors would say the same; there's enough US-spec cars in the US on the market now (before, or in the future) that this won't be an issue for us.

right on. if i were to import them. i would not do 4.0, just buy them here. i would take 964rs, 993 rs/rscs, 993GT2 and such

yes, ARC is ph3 although it has gotta go as is by far the weakest link. not enough gain for .4mv cart, can hardly listen to it.
ja30 is indeed the sweet spot in range - the others have too many tubes and too many problems.
30 is quiet and reliable. i had defy 7 before and that did fireworks spectacular. also orchestra integrated in system2 is great daily driver.
the new weisfield designs are set n forget, much less complicated than previously. he has also just released a new direct drive version which requires even less maintenance.
the old days were the best though; so heady! lol nearly bought some ascent avalons recently but too much load for jadis...

meanwhile........the last 4.0 to sell here was advertised at $500k and sold within days.
went to a good home.
the others are in hiding, tucked away somewhere.
yes ARC got to go. i had sp11 Mk2, that was best. sp14 was cleaner but sterile. actually everything after sp11 is sterile. i did keep the CL 30. the best of classic series. but the jadis would warm up the cold Minnesota ARC.

you need big tub or solid state on avalon ascents. i drove them with rowland model 7's and later on with model 9 using old school coherence. had consummate, cool remote but sterile. i like it rich, golden and fat....

back to 4.0.
price is crasy.
but if you got one, dont park it. drive it.

i even drive its reflection.

Luckily I never developed this audio habit and am content with a few thousand sacd, dvd-audio and bluray audio discs that I play on my home made speakers through a run of the mill pioneer amp/receiver (sc90). Lalalalala not listening lalalala.

+1 there was a gorgeous 993 GT2 Evo at the Werks Reunion down in Monterey last month imported under the DOT 'Significant model" rules ... simply stunning.

I personally would love a 993 RS (Mexico Blue of course) with the CS aero.
