Default Service intervals and DIY maintenance.

The car has 30k on the clock and is currently sitting in the garage on a trickle charger with Stabil in the tank. It's had it's 24k service over 2 years ago and I'm going to do a self service on it this week.

On my list:

Oil and filter change
Brake fluid flush
Coolant flush
Air filter change
Particle filter change
fill washer fluid.

I'll also put the car up in the air and check for the undercarriage for worn hoses and leaks.

Wondering how hard it is to change out the plugs without removing the exhaust.

Oil and filter change -- super easy. should take 20 mins .
Brake fluid flush - super easy, should take 30 mins
Coolant flush - never done this myself
Air filter change - 15 min job- super easy
Particle filter change- super easy. 15 min job
fill washer fluid.- 1 min job. super easy.

Wondering how hard it is to change out the plugs without removing the exhaust. --- no need to remove exhaust. if you have lift. should take 1 hour. That is how long it took me and a K. from this board.

These cars are very easy to work on, so you should be ok.

Just make sure you apply counter torque when loosening the oil tank drain plug. If you break it, it's engine out time...

Thanks!. I'll be doing the work this Wednesday morning and will snap a few pics throughout the process. I'll try to put together a diy for anyone interested.

On another note, what is everyone running for spark plugs. Im normally a NGK user and will google what the .1 likes but just wondering what the consensus is?

TIA

Here are some photos/links that might be helpful as well -

24k mile DIY service

I bought the service kit from suncoast.

I would love to see a write-up on the coolant flush.

I've never heard this term before. What is "counter torque"?

The top arrow is where you are supposed to apply "counter torque." As the term implies, you apply a force on the upper "nut," in the opposite direction as applied to the bolt, in order to cancel out the torque transfer from the bolt to the thin wall of the oil tank, as you can break in.

Yes, counter torquing is necessary but if I can recall correctly, it's to prevent that top nut from spinning in the same direction as the drain bolt. I don't think that top nut is welded to the tank.

This is not correct, the "nut" is welded on.

If possible, please comment on the coolant change. I have heard this can be tedious with continuous "burping." My car has 17K, mostly track, and no coolant change yet.
