Tire? MPSS or R-S3 version 1 or 2?
Im in need to buy rear tires for my recently purchased GT3...which sucks.... the tires are good about 90% tread left across on all 4 but the rear camber has ate the inside of the rear tires up and i have cords showing on the inside...now the car has MPSS on all 4 corners...
Now I'm a big Hankook fan and i see they make the R-S3 that is comparable to the MPSS......if i were to change to Hankook of course i would change all 4 corners.... Is anybody running these tires and if they are is it the Version 1 or Version 2 of the R-S3 and how does it compared to the MPSS...second option is to just put MPSS back on the rear and run them til all 4 go bad and then change to something else....the car is only driven on the street and i do some hard driving from time to time on back country roads....as of right now i'am not tracking the car and if i ever get around to being able to track the car then i will buy a set of 18 rims and track tires.

Tirerack is unloading the version one RS3 for CHEAP. grab them while they last.
RS3 is a better dry track tire than mpss. For your driving either will work, but mpss will last longer and do better in wet.

I saw that.......another reason i'm looking at the R-S3......it does rain a lot where i live....basically for 225.00 more dollars i can get 4 tires and if anybody is interested i could sell the used MPSS front tires if anybody is interested

I run the RS3 V1's on my street wheels. LOVE them. I've street driven them, tracked them, run them in the rain. They are a great all around high performance tire. I bought 2 sets when Tire Rack first started dumping them. I would highly recommend.
I have the MPSS's on my M3 and they are very good but I don't think as good as the RS3's.

I concur on the RS3s. Just ran Circuit of the Americas in my track prepared Cayman S. They held up much better then expected on that high speed track. I too have run in the rain and they're much better then most high performance tires.

For street/rain-MPSS and get your alignment adjusted... I managed 2000 track km and 5000 street kms on a set without cording and I was running cambers up to 2.0...
If you plan to track, RS3s are the better dry track tyre for sure... What they give up in wet weather doesn't make them the better option on the street though...

I had the MPSS for several thousand miles and then switched to the RS3 V1's. Drove both on track and autocross in the cold, wet, heat, cold & wet, etc. What everyone said above is spot on: MPSS are better in the cold and wet; they also last a lot longer. The RS3's have slightly better dry grip, but that's the only advantage I see to them, other than the cheap price of the V1's right now.
I autocrossed the RS3's on a cold & wet day, and I thought they were pretty bad. This was at a venue that I have years of driving on, including on the MPSS in the wet.
So short answer is get the MPSS for all around tire. Get the RS3's for a mostly track street tire.

Thanks everyone for the Input...I really appreciated it!!I ordered a set of the R-S3's last night...the MPSS are back ordered til May...Im not letting my recently purchased car sit for 3 wks waiting on tires..LOL...so I ordered the R-S3...i don't plan on driving the car that much in the rain...if I do i should be able to handle it...I use to drive a 500Hp Turbo car daily and in the rain with Falken RT615's on the rear...I would think the R-S3 would have better then that tire.

In the dry you'll love them Mikejgt3... Just get your alignment checked at a reputable shop. You should not have scrubbed those inner edges with the rest 90% good unless your camber or toe are way off... For street, just use stock alignment to prolong tyre life...
