Default GT3 clutch

How can I tell when my clutch needs to be replaced ?

I own a 997 MK2 and my pedal moves a tad heavier/harder than my friend's MK1 clutch pedal. Is this normal, or is my clutch soon due for replacement ?

If it slips you need to replace it. Hard to say when it's 'going'.

Thanks for your input. The clutch is not slipping. It behaves quite normally. I just find the fact wierd, that my clutch is harder to press than the clutch in the MK1.

If car goes in gear just fine, and no slippage no reason to worry

Do both cars have the non-RS dual mass flywheel?

The MK2 has a different clutch and flywheel than the MK1. I was checking the online Porsche parts catalog and it is not correct as it shows the same flywheel for MK1 vs MK2. MK2 flywheel is about 2 lbs lighter than MK1.

You can usually tell if your clutch needs to be replaced if it is slipping as others indicated or if the pedal gets unusually stiffer with a much lower engagement point.
