Dempsey is actually pretty heavy into racing.
He recently joined Porsche's family with his Dempsey Del Piero Racing team, he was doing the prototype cars for a while, but I guess the luster of Porsche drew him in. He's a car guy through and through.
Steve McQueen was the same way, using his acting paychecks to pay for his racing interests.
