Default GMG Racing Porsche 997.2 WC-GT3RS Serial #23, Newly Fitted with 19" Slick Tires

What does the WC stand for? It stands for World Challenge, the race series in which GMG Racing competes in.
The World Challenge series is North America’s premier sprint racing series with cars competing from Porsche, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Cadillac, Ford, Aston Martin, Volvo, Corvette, Mercedes, and many more. GMG has been successfully campaigning Porsche GT3 Cup cars in this series for several years now and the highlights includes the 2010 Manufactures Championship. GMG was the team that scored the most wins and clinched the title for Porsche.

The World Challenge or WC cars and products are developed on track and refined for road use. The series allows for modifications to standard Cup cars and GMG developed these parts in house for which the WC road cars share. GMG now offers complete WC track package cars, each custom built to a clients' specifications and each comes with a unique serial number.

Impressions:

From the start up, you know that the engine is not stock.
The engine fires up quickly and idles smoothly but the exhaust note has a distinct bark.

On the Road:

The engine is very responsive, much more willing to rev than a standard RS.

Power delivery is very smooth and linear coming on early in the power band and pulling all the way to redline.
The most impressive characteristic is the mid range punch. You can really feel the power come on and the torque feels like a muscle car.
Where a stock GT3RS would start to run out of breath, the GMG WC pulls hard all the way to redline.
As the engine rpms climb and the valved exhaust system opens up, the exhaust note turns from a deep bark to a scream that very reminiscent of the factory RSR race cars.
Matched revs and down shifts are met with a very nice burble through the exhaust note.

Handling

The WC track package really turns the GT3 RS into an amazing dual purpose car. It virtually eliminates is the “push” these cars are known for.
The steering is more connected and the suspension is very responsive; it communicates with you but it is NOT as stiff or harsh as a Cup car.
It soaks up bumps nicely all the while keeping the driver in tune with what is going on around all 4 corners.
There is no doubt that the team spent time dialing the set up of the car
Being a development partner for world renown damper company like JRZ has its perks.
Although most of the rubber is removed from the suspension links and components its does not make the vehicle harsh and rattly.
Pushed on a canyon road or track this car can out pace just about everything that can legally have a license plate on it.
On track, aside from the interior you wouldn’t think it was as civil as it is if you looked at the lap times it capable of turning.

Curb appeal

GMG is currently offering complete serialized track package cars or complete packages which can be installed through our global network of partners.

If you don’t want a Cup car but you want everything that a Cup car can do and still be able to drive to and from the track, the GMG WC-RS cars are on the top of a very short list to consider.

Here are some of the pictures from the build while it was in progress:

Removing the interior to install the GMG RSR Roll bar

Beauty shots of the new 3 way Adjustable Sport Shifter Kit

3 way Adjustable Sport Shifter Kit installed

GMG WC Transmission Mount

- Made of a high durameter urethane which limits the movement of the transmission during hard cornering or acceleration.

- Ideal for street cars used on the track or high horsepower street cars.

- Helps keep the transmission stable so you do not have a “money shift”.

- Very street-able, does not make noise or transmit unwanted vibration into cabin like a solid mount would.

- Bushing kit does NOT include the aluminum mount, it is shown for reference only.

GMG WC Sway Bars

- Helps reduce body roll during fast cornering and to fine-tune the handling balance.

- Front and rear hollow tube

- 5 way front and 3 way rear adjustable

- The rear bar offers an increase in stiffness from 30 to 80 percent over the stock bar and the front bar offers an increase of 20-50 percent increase over the stock front bar.

- Sold as a complete kit and is a true bolt on upgrade that requires no modifications to your vehicle and works with the standard sway bar drop links and dampers or any aftermarket damper such as Moton, JRZ or Ohlins.

GMG Dog Bone Kit

- Made of machined and hard anodized aluminum billet rod (6061)

- Only proper way to correct the rear suspension geometry of lowered 996 & 997 Porsche vehicles by offering a much wider range of adjustments.

- Lowered vehicles suffer premature tire wear as the factory eccentric rear bolts does not offer enough adjustment to properly re-align the vehicle back to desired specifications.

- 4 Links , 8 rod ends and 16 machined bushings.

- Requires NO modification to chassis, direct bolt on replacement part.

- Can be used on daily driven street cars, the links do not transmit road harshness into the cabin

GMG WC Front & Rear Bump Steer / Toe Steer Kit (sold separately in pairs)

- Half kit is used on the front of the vehicle and replaces the tie rod end to correct bump

GMG RSR Style Adjustable Thrust Arm (Sold Separately in Pairs)

- CNC machined out of aerospace grade aluminum and are hard anodized for corrosion resistance from the elements

- Feature anti dive and anti squat geometry to help keep the roll center of the vehicle within specification during hard braking and acceleration as well as high G cornering.

GMG Adjustable Thrust Arm Bushing Kit

- Signifigently improves the handling and response

- Allows for adjustment for additional caster as well

- Can be used in all lower stock control arms as well as adjustable Porsche Motorsport Cup arms.

- Eliminates unwanted caster changes in both front and rear suspension under acceleration and deceleration.

- Helps minimize the mushy feeling on the multilink factory suspension without added road harshness transmissions into the cabin.

GMG RSR Oval Center Section & Sport Header System with the Bumper Installed:

n our next round of upgrades, we switch out the factory PCCB Brakes in favor of the track-proven StopTech® Trophy Big Brake Kit. Customers often ask, "Why switch out the space age featherweight carbon ceramic brakes for the steel ones?". The answer is that the steel brakes are far much more durable and economically feasible for regular track use; the replacement steel rotors cost a fraction of the OEM carbon ceramic counterpart and can endure the abuse at the track. We use these brakes on our very own Porsche race cars and so does many other top Speed® World Challenge and Grand-Am Cup Teams.

StopTech® Trophy Big Brake Kit Features:

- Fully forged aluminum construction with hard anodized finish
- Patented, bolt-in bridge minimizes caliper compliance for a firmer pedal
- Stiffest 6 Piston caliper currently on the market
- Uses standard FMSI D1247 pad (VIEW PAD SHAPE)
- Can be used on rotors with outer diameter of 328-380mm and thickness of 28-35mm
- ALL finished parts are 100% leak down and pressure tested to 2500 PSI
- Uses a popular pad shape readily available in over 15 street performance and race friction compounds
- Over 19 different piston size combinations available to tune brake torque to the needs of each individual application
- Differential piston sizes minimize pad taper for longer pad life and a firmer pedal
- Dust boots are standard for reduced maintenance on Sport Trophy Kits

Ya dude your car is sic. That thing was tearing it up at Thermal.

What did you think of the slicks? Was I right? Slicks are like crack. Once you start you can never go back.

GMG did an awesome job on that build. I am sorry I did not make it out to button willow but we are in the middle of graduation preparation for my son.

This weekend is a big event and a bunch of guys from nor cal are supposed to be there. Will even be bigger.

Thanks! Thermal was fun. Haven't tried the slicks yet, still burning up the current Hoosier stock. I may drive up to BW to checkout the action and meet the NorCal gang.
