Tire sizes for 997.1 gt3
My rear tires are nearly bald and i'm looking to replace them, but when I did a search based on the existing size (305/35/18), only 1 tire came in and that was the Toyo R888s that are already on the car. I'd like to keep the same width as they fit inside the fenders nicely. Bumping up to 315 only gives me one more, the Kumho Ecsta V710s. Which sizes are compatible that would give me more options?
tire and wheel specs from original ad:
BBS Motorsport/GMG World challenge Racing Wheels, 18X12 Rear 18X10 Front
Toyo R888 Tires, 265 Front, 305 Rear

R888, do not do it. you will regret.
315 will fit fine
265/305 causes a loose car.
why do you have run 305 on a 12" rim?
front at 10" i would do 255-265, rear at 12" 315-335
V710 is not a street tire. it wont last more than 1000 miles.

Three Wheelin'
R888 not very popular although they have correct sizing. Nitto NT01 is nice in 18s but rear ratio is only 30, not 35. If you plan to leave TC/SC on for track use, i think system go bonkers. Please confirm on this?
Not much choice in streetable/track use 18s...
Someone said R888 and NT01 have similar compound with diff groove design (Toyo owns Nitto so i think someone made that assumption) I dont think that is true.

So if I go with the Nittos, it would be 315/30 but my fronts would be 265/35 (with current Toyos). Wouldn't that make the front diameters larger than rear? The Nittos don't seem to come in 265 width (245 and 275).
btw, what makes the r888s so bad? so far only negative I've experience is road noise.

What do you mean by loose with this config? The 305s are what's on it now so I thought I'd run the same setup and it fills out the wheel well nicely.

your stagger front rear is not enough. some ppl like a looser car but it's not a normal configuration.
i wouldn't run different type of tires front / rear
r888 has on grip
strange wear pattern
same money i take RA1 or NT01

What tire spec would you recommend for the nittos? I assume you're saying my fronts need to be wider to reduce oversteer? Isnt it already wider than stock? What is stock config?

Stock stagger is 235 front 305 rear. That's a 7 cm difference. But, less stagger is faster, e.g. Mooty's 255 or 265 and 315 suggestion. That's a 6 cm and 5 cm stagger, respectively, and if available, I'd agree.
However, if you want NT-01s, they only come in 245 and 275 front, I think. You have the big GMG front flares and 10 inch wheels so really, 275 is probably the ticket (might as well). As mentioned above, a 275 front/ 315 rear is not much stagger, so you'll oversteer more. However, cup cars have the same or less stagger, I think (4 or 3 cm). Perhaps you can set your sway bar soft in the rear and run more rear wing. Just a thought.
Slim pickings on tires, isn't it?

Damage, they're talking about r-comps.. Are you sure you want to run these on the street? How much of a street/track split are you realistically expecting?
Personally, assuming you are staying on the street, I think you should sell the 18s and go to 19s. That way you will be able to run Michelin pss in 265/325

Ah yes..makes sense.
