i guess if you care to live long healthy life you would do the same. all that nice fineprint from VW lawyers will do nothing good to you at your grave if you lose a wheel in a car with no cage. it is really strange how after all those years of failures and 'recalls' people still hang to it. it is just a bad design, same thing as M96/M97 motors, plenty of fineprint but 0 result.

Three Wheelin'
I just called Bevhills porsche. No recall in the system as isnt official i guess. My vin nimber didnt say much on their screen. My car was ordered and picked up by original owner 10/09 so earlier US bound production for your reference.
I thought of going 5 lugs. Still may as CL is just a hassle

I would say it's safe to assume that ALL MY2010s are affected by this recall.

"component stress associated with racetrack use and competitive driving are much higher then that experienced when driving in a lawful manner on public roads. we have determined that when a porsche 911 vehicle with central locking wheel hubs is driven in an unusually aggressive manner, the stresses which can be imparted to vehicle components can come close to that experienced in racetrack conditions. this means that not only is more stringent maintenance required, but also, as a precautionary measure, the replacement of the wheel hubs on the rear axle"
so, in other words:
- all CL cars will now have to replace rear hubs every 2 years or every 10,000 miles or every 20 trackdays
- and since we used words like "unusually aggressive manner", "lawful manner", "competitive driving" - if you happened to have a wheel leave your car driving at a DE we are not going to pay for your destroyed car
Maintenance schedule for CL cars is now going to mean you are paying for new hardware and 11 hours of install labor ever 2 years or you insurance company is not going to cover you - priceless

if you check the Cup 991 discussion the head of Porsche R&D states clearly if you track the car you have to replace the hubs every 15,000 km (about ~10,000 miles).
So Porsche has now clearly stated these are a "wear" items and need to be maintained.
It's unclear to me however if the 15,000 km number is for street tires, I'm wondering if you run stickier tires if you need to accelerate the replacement schedule.

The phrase "require more stringent maintenance" - wtf that means? Isn't the instruction manual for CL's freaking long already? Does it mean the ball is more in your court now with liability ie it's all on u if wheel comes off? If so way to go PAG!! Mike

And it's unclear to me if that is 15000 TRACK kilometers... Must be since freeway driving shouldn't be that hard on those "delicate" CL's ;-). That would mean for someone driving to/from the track with an average of 200 miles roundtrip per each outing, it's a one third track to two-third street ratio and that in turn would mean you'll get your hubs replaced at about 45K-50K kilometers or about 30000 total miles, right? What a mess, time to trade for a 991S with Powerkit :-)

Doubt that they'll rely on people keeping logs of track use... Any kilometer stipulation will be odometer, street-track-watevea.... Poor effort PAG, poor effort indeed...
I'll take my one free set of hubs and look at the 5 stud setup when it comes time to pony up myself... Guessing CL wheels will only be worth their weight as scrap metal at a recycling station only....
Ps. Bet this announcement when it comes will not be helping any of our resales, 4.0RS included.... Just saying
