Both items were tucked safely away. Only thing that made a debut was the hair gel Saturday night....

s Pete (85gold) let me flog the boss a bit. Shifting is a PITA in it. I think once the clutch gets hot it doesn't release or something but after about a lap it stops letting you into 5th gear... then 4th... then 3rd. You can get it in gear but it's a 2 second shift waiting for it to let you in. Ran a 2:29.1 on the data, I had kinda hoped the big ole girl would be quicker. 133.9mph down the back straight on data. Always had a passenger so maybe it's in the 28's with no passenger. Turn in is only a suggestion on the street tires, you can't dream of trail braking it in, it just over loads the outside front tire and washes you wide of the apex.
Anyway here is the video with Pete riding shotgun. I think I was running 2:30 flats this session. Sorry the sound sucks, didn't hook up the mic.
I was enjoying the video until I saw the miata pack. Those guys drove me nuts. Ones on the left pointing me by, while guy on right is pointing me by, while 2 up front are blocking me in the middle.

Actually DeputyDog got stuck in the middle of the pack going through 17. That was hilarious....

Nope, he's probably the fastest Gold DE Cup drover, but I know of a street 996 GT3 running 2:20 flat before minor coaching, so he can enter the Platinum Cup.

Wow it barely qualifies for the "Cup of Coffee" and borderline with the "Moving Chicane" trophy. I think the E36M3 is a better choice, especially when adding low speed turns.

My stock suspension, slow motor, 987.1 moving chicane hits 134mph on the back straight at Sebring. It now has 120 lbs removed, a tune, suspension updates and a superb exhaust system, very likely 137mph in its current configuration, and way cheaper than the Pony car.

I heard that a 997.1 GT3 was only hitting low 130's down the backstraight when he's usually high 130's low 140's on Facebook. I figure there must have been a good head wind or something. I didn't see the Data, Pete read it to me on the phone. Something else is that 5th gear shift taking 2 seconds or more didn't do much for top end speed. I guess I can't complain being what a soft suspension lead sled it is that it ran sub 2:30 with that low of a mph on the back straight. I'll tell ya what, it's a HOOT to drive. Just wish the shifting was sorted. I think Pete's gonna put a better clutch in it and see how it is.

Hey Peter, here is your Pony car against the lighter and more powerful, 7-speed equipped Cayman R.

You can pick up my Cayman today as is, for way less than your Live-Axle-Wannabe-Sport-Car. I even give you over $15k on goodies the car has installed since December 2011. It has an extended warranty, a 18,000 miles old engine, 6 track days, and you don't have to deal with Ford service.

Agreed on the miatas. I have no objection to lower horsepower cars being on the track, but these guys seemed to like watching faster cars slalom between them. I was constantly getting inconsistent point-bys with these guys. Nonetheless, it was a great weekend, and the weather cooperated way more than it looked like it would. Great weekend!
