911SLOW posted a 300,000 Mile GT3.

Are there other known high mileage GT3's??

Curious to find out more.

My 997.2 GT3 RS has about 56,000 miles on it. I have owned it for 4 years and have put about half of those miles on it. It sees regular track duty at VIR on member days. My son and I also drove it on One Lap of America in 2019 and 2021. I maintain it to a very high standard using a former Porsche motorsports car builder and mechanic. It is an absolute blast to drive.

^You are new here?

It's like he never saw it.
Peter can't see the word bar without automatically assuming it's a quality beer calling and run for the fridge.

Two main factors on engine wear: Heat and RPM, and the GT3 has plenty of both.

If you properly warm up your GT3, drive under 4,000 rpm, and change the oil every 2,500 miles, it will surely last a long time, any babied engine lasts a long time.

A GT3 engine in track conditions (read GT3 Cup car section) is good for 80 hours, some people stretch it to 100 hours and a little more. At 85 mph average, 80 track hours is 6,800 miles.

6,800 miles is a number far away from 300,000 miles.

My 2007 GT3 RS with somewhere around 3,000 track miles, and 20,000 miles on the odometer had an engine rebuilt due to a multitude of oil leaks. The car got a new crankcase, the engine builder (good friend from L.A.) showed me the opened engine, indicating the wear on the crankshaft and some scratches on the cylinder walls, it would have required a rebuild at the 35,000 miles range with my use. It tells me that in addition to the track miles, it was driven hard on some of the non-track 17,000 miles.

So, keep written records of you track days, miles driven, minutes at the track. Perform a leakdown test at 40 track hours. At 80 track hours, I would in addition to the leakdown test, inspect the cylinders with a camera, the crankshaft is almost impossible to get inspected, unless the engine is opened.

If you distribute the cost of a rebuild, over the # of years that it takes to accumulate 100 hours when doing DE Cup, the rebuild ends up cheaper than tires.
