Called for the buyout on my lease today. 2 years left. Also need to get a daily. This is getting expensive quick. I blame you.

Not kidding on the shuffle steer. I had a 112 year old instructor last September that kept hounding me on it. I Thought the car control sucked when using it. Ended up doing it by the end of the day so he would zip it. Never used it again. Was warned to ask on my checkout ride to see if the instructor wanted to see it.

I literally get sick and can't run my session if my student isn't smooth, so for me the scope patch is key. I didn't have the patch a few events ago and had to ask to switch students because my student was so bad and I didn't want to lose all my own run sessions being nauseous. With the patch it is a totally different ballgame.

I sometimes forget to teach that technique at Suncoast DE's, and have been taken to task for sending a student for a checkout ride who can't shuffle steer.

WTF???

That sort of blows my mind. Some of these guys must still be using those old gigantic ship's wheels to steer their 1969 911's. Wow.

I never try to disavow a student from shuffling unless it really upsets the car (which it usually does). But I would NEVER demand that a student use & demonstrate it in a DE unless they were driving a 1960's or 1970's car.

Wow.

Mark, really????????????

WTF is in the water down there????????????????

Ugh.

IMHO, teaching and then testing for shuffle steering is UTTERLY RETARDED unless you never leave the paddock.

Hell, even the masters of shuffle steering, the cops, are getting away from it.

The board of Suncoast consists of some elderly guys who were probably trained to use that technique back in the day on the vintage 911s. They are in leadership position so they maintain the approach that is outdated. I really feel like more of these clubs should use some of their DE profits to bring pros like you in to create a higher level of understanding. Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent amateur instructors out there, who I learned a lot from, especially when I was a newbie, but it is a totally different level having instruction from a pro. I know my students are getting a much higher level of instruction because of my investment in pro coaching, than they would have gotten from me othewise.

I'm not signing anyone off for solo or even to medium if they shuffle.
I can't stand it.

I know there are really fast pro drivers that shuffle but they did not have me as initial instructor. Better get fast the right way.

Don't worry it's PCA Slowcoast...just go slow, drive the stupid DE line,

(OT Gavin did a track walk with instructors 2 years ago and talked about and showed the differnece between the DE line and the race line....Slowcoast gastopo was pizzed! They told me that only the DE line should be driven and not to listen to Gavin ...bunch of old turds)

shuffle steer if you have to. I don't even go to PCA Slowcoast events anymore...had with those old turds. It's sad though because there are a couple of cool people still left there but it's dwindling.
