Stone Chip Prevention 3M v XPEL Ultimate?

Stone Chip Prevention 3M v XPEL Ultimate?
I know XPEL Ultimate is a much clearer film, less orange peel and looks great. Does anyone know if it actually is thicker or prevents stone chips better than the 3M? Reason is, I have 3M on now and a few stones have made it through. I am considering replacing some of the front with the Ultimate but am wondering if it is really worth it (I have the Ultimate on a different car and it certainly looks much better on the car but I am doing it for protection more than looks). Thanks.

Ultimate is supposed to be self-healing so if it gets minor scratches on it, they simply disappear in the sun. I've only had it on my other car (not tracked) a few months but so far, so good. It is also much smoother than the 3M. Overall impressions so far are very favorable and if I were doing the RS all over again, I would've used it for sure. Just not sure if it's worth changing a couple of the high impact areas over after the fact.

My entire car is in ultimate and I believe the warranty (fwiw) on the 3m is not so good
3m bought out venture shield which had lifetime warranty and now it does not
Xpel ultimate is aptly named at this point

venture had life time warranty? how can that be.
there is NO film that works for me.
i'll do one session, without going off, i can tear any film apart.
how many car length do you ppl stay behind the car in front?
i am debating to go naked next time around?!
much easier to get rubber mk off.

^ oh...
now you tell me.
all my turns yellow. on white car you see it clearly. ask izzone.
he tought he bought a PTS geisha, baby yellow.
but only film is covered by warranty what about labor to peel and re apply. that's the $$$ part, the film is really cheap compared to labor cost.

So far I am very impressed with xpel, but only 6 or so track days.
I will post update in feb with another 7 days or more for a total of 13+.
I don't see much yellowing yet, but impressive part is not even the faintest scratches visible yet.

Everything about the Xpel Ultimate makes it better than the 3M counterpart. Xpel not only is self healing from some pretty deep scratching, but also is super resistant to staining and solvents. You can wipe off track tire rubber with lacquer thinner if you want. Try that with Scotchgard. Xpel also holds up amazingly well to bird droppings, and insects. I have not seen a better film. Ever.

Pics from Xpel HQ.
The guys at Xpel did a great job as always. They installed the Ultimate Film this time around. Some pics of the install.
I had the front clip. hood, head lights and front fenders done for now. The windshield was done at the dealer at pick up. At a later date I will remove the side OEM stickers and clear bra the doors and rear section of the car.
Sorry you cant see any of the great work, but I guess that is the idea. I am very happy with the work and the end results.
