Removed were Sharky exhaust, stock headers with cats and the side mufflers. I think I saved about 35 lbs from the rear of the car.
On the street the car was still perfectly drivable from 2500 until 4000 rpm, but it is impossible to go to 8000 rpm on the street, because it gets wayyyy too loud and would attrack the popo from every county on the east coast. But under 4000 rpm it was not much louder then the Sharky exhaust, with very little drone below 2500 rpm, which is where my car is only when taking off from a light.
It feels like it lost a little bit of torque down low, but I was too afraid to attrack unwanted attention to see if car felt faster in the higher rpm's . Dyno and/or track will have to prove that.
p.s. Baller/Eddie picked me up in the GTR, that thing is stupid fast, even in stock mode. Thanks for the ride Baller
What size cats does the new system use?

Where do you get 12K?
My system: M&M headers / 200 cell cats / elbow pipes and M&M designed center section with RSR angled tips was under 6K.
Granted I was the first two years ago and was given two different rear sections in the deal. The other center section will go on now with the "little" new project in development.

What size cats does the new system use
None. Don't have check engine light yet but expect it to come on eventually. There is a area that the second set (after cat) oxigen sensors are mounted, a little higher more out of the air flow, but usually this or spacers are not enough. Will deal with check engine light if I keep this setup when I get a Tune, which I will only do if I decide to keep this setup

Erik from what you described I'd say you lost closer to 45 lbs from the rear.
btw why decide to go with no cats?

Only one M&M system listed on FVD website for 997 GT3:

No cats because those were the headers that Porro had for me to try for free (I love the free part)

Per Slow's #'s

Headers stock are 24.25 lbs, Porro's headers 16.5, gain 7.75 lbs (I presume that's the cats)
Side mufflers are 39.68 lbs, gain 39.68 lbs
Deleted Sharky 6 lbs ?, gain 6 lbs
Added elbows, 3 lbs ?, loss 3 lbs
Added center stock muffler, loss 17.5 lbs
Total 33 lbs , hopefully my side mufflers are a few pounds more :-)

The bulk of power gains seems to be coming from the headers

really does suck that we cant change headers without voiding warrente

this rsr style true stright thru setup from FVD is claiming 110db. http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/99...tyle_tips.html

ERIK Without cats your car must be insane DB levels~ Removing the cats seems to be where the loss in backpressure is hence the feel of bit less down low??? This would make sense. In the past Ive done this to other cars and that low down punch was not as strong but up in high end it really made up for it. It would be interesting to feel this difference at full song on track, do let us know how it turned out please. Im just learning but please educate me
