Coupling attached to heat exchanger for oil cooler blew out top left side of engine) Porsche dropped the engine and replaced the part. 2 track events later the same thing occurred. a different dealer reattached the coupling with a stonger bonding agent and it has lasted through 5 track events. Coolant dumps all over the rear left tire when the part fails.

So this car has had it happen twice then! Before I sold it to Joe I had the coolant hose fail (around 25K miles) but luckily it failed when I was just done pulling the car onto the lift at home. So no near death on track experience. Rather, just a mess of coolant to clean up on the floor below. Thank God there wasn't another car parked underneath.

Specific Coupling: I believe 996 106 477 73 hose - but it was a glued fitting - not the hose
Repair Solution: 996 106 501 74 to superseded part 996 106 501 76
996 106 502 74 to superseded part 997 106 502 00 and 996 106 477 73 hose and fitting.

A friend of mine with a 2004 GT3 has had this specific problem twice.
First at 26,299 miles and now at 30,525 miles. First time at
California Motor Speedway and then 2 track events later at
Buttonwillow. Dealer fixed it the first time (2 fittings) under
extended warranty, but now the warranty expired and the dealer wants
$1000.00 for 1 fitting.

High temp RTV or even JB Weld might well be the answer, but once we're resorting to the chemicals display at the local auto parts store, I think that's part of the problem, not part of the solution.

2002 turbo, 85,000 miles - passenger side oil cooler manifold fitting blew out. Replaced with new factory part. The new part blew out on the drivers side less than one year (8,000 miles) later. Welded them both in place for a permanent fix.

My 2005 996 GT3 had the same/similar problem that coolant was leaking from the J-hose (I think it is) at the right hand side behind the belts while I was at the turn 8 of Mosport International Raceway, no big issue and I was black-flagged back into the pit immediately. I don't know the root cause yet, lucky enough I was able to drive the car back to the Garage which is 100 km away from the raceway but I needed to add 1-2 liter of water for 2 times .

J fitting was popped out of the block, unglued, and we pushed it back in. We could see the glue/epoxy on the approx 1 inch of exposed coupling. Glad to see you made it back safely.
Many cars, myself included, slipped and got sideways without knowing why as there was no apparent spill (turns 8, 9, 10 + front straight and even t1). Most pitted and started to check tire pressures, trying to figure out what was happening. Then we saw you come in with the smoking butt.
BTW, my offer still stands, want to trade cars

GT3 Coolant line failure
Rennlisters, during my race at Miller Motorsport Park I had a coolant line failure that should not have occured. My 2004 GT3 has a secondary coolant line from the waterpump next to the primary coolant line. This secondary line has a press fitting into the waterpump with no fastner. It then travels up to the powersteering pump where it is connected. Both pumps have the pressed fitting with metal pipe, both pipes are joined with a rubber hose using hose clamps, I would image for vibration. It appears to have been bonded with adhesive, and after 7500 miles it failed, just popped out during a race which cost me my National Championship and possibly a engine. No warning, no drips or leaks, just pop and a spray of coolant on to the engine and right rear suspension.
Would like to hear if others have had the same problem, because trust me, I will give Porsche and ear full...
