Will pin all pipes prior to next event.

Is WrightMotorsports going to do the pinning?

I was at my local dealership yesterday and was told that there was a new fix from Porsche. The tech said their local rep indicated that there would be a kit available for something like $1700 in parts. Maybe someone else can confirm this.

.... That's just funny when you consider the cost of the Sharky parts. Maybe it includes lateral sphincterotomy.

Will find out more tonight. I think Alan and I use the same dealership. I didn't hear about the $1700 fix, but if Porsche has a fix, they sure as heck better be doing it gratis, especially on warrantied cars.

Nope, that is an extra cost option
Scott, I'll be at POV tonight, probably early. I was by there earlier today picking up the GTS. All of a sudden the PDK needed a Depends.

Joe told me about the Porsche repair parts. He thought welding would be best followed by pinning unless it was a warranty repair. He also thought Porsche might put the parts in under warranty if the car developed a leak under warranty.

Would be nice if PCNA steps up to the plate.

I spoke with my service writer this evening at POV. He told me he had ordered a set of the new parts for evaluation. The order was for over night delivery 4 days ago. He's still waiting.

Scott, if you get a chance check with Dave early next week. I will be down and out for a while starting Monday morning.

What do you get for $1700? Do they replace all the manifolds with welded fittings? Sounds pricey considering you need to put out another $800 to R&R the engine to do the work.

I had my R+R and welds done for a little more then that. Lots of $ but I don't need to worry about this issue now.

That's about standard for the repair. Seems pricey to charge $1700 in parts alone and then another $800 on top to R&R the engine. Just curious as to what those parts are.

Our local PCA region issued this today:

OVR COOLANT LINE SAFETY NOTICE UPDATE

It appears that Porsche has quietly addressed the issue of the coolant lines coming unglued from their housings in GT1 type engines. The housings have been re-engineered to increase the bonding surface area of the tubes and a new, high-strength/heat-resistant bonding material is used. We are hoping that they can tell us when they started using these new parts but unfortunately at this point that information is not available. It does appear that 2010 and later GT3 RS’s have them so one would assume that this would include the Turbo’s as well. *

Based on this, we will exempt these cars from the requirement that they MUST either run water with Water Wetter in their coolant systems or mechanically secure these pipes. However, unless your dealer advises against it, we strongly encourage the use of distilled water and Water Wetter. In fact, Porsche of the Village is offering a program where they will drain and capture your coolant and store it for you for future use. Then flush the system to remove the remaining glycol coolant then refill it with distilled water and Water Wetter for approximately $200.

We also want to caution owners of earlier cars that the fitting located behind the power steering pump, which has been the main problem, is not the only one that can fail. There are ones behind the alternator that have failed as well. Therefore, if you are addressing this problem by welding or pinning these fittings, you must do all of them. Even after this has been done you are still encouraged to change over to the distilled water with Water Wetter for track use since hose failures can also occur.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions,

Was there any word on what the new parts looked like? Did your shop receive them from Germany?
