Default gen 1 rs vs gen 2 gt3

I have read a couple threads on how people are speculating the new gt3 rs will compare to the 07/08 rs I am curious if anybody have owned the 07/08 rs and now has the new gt3. I would be curious to read a comparison. thanks in advance.

that would be me, and i think my .2 GT3 is the best Porsche sportscar i've ever driven.

it is an extension of your will on the road. as intuitive as that cute palmist with the curly blonde hair you brought home one night.

there are very very few here who can turn such differences into meaningful attributes. sure it revs faster when you blip the throttle, but otherwise...?

Both my .1 GT3 and my RS didn't feel quite this good. This is not to be confused with me saying i think i can turn faster laps in the .2 I really don't know (after lapping with my avatar, i have to say that ALL of the other Porsches seem slower). i do know that it feels better though, far less edgy than my RS for sure!

I'd like to hear some more real world feedback....

I've found an available meteor grey 997.2 GT3 in transit...pretty basic options, but has DEM..
Also available is a 997.1 GT3 RS...Orange, 1200 miles, (waiting on rest of option list)

Price is $4k difference, no big deal...

I love my current 997.1 GT3
I really love the orange RS,
I've seen, but not driven the 997.2 GT3...I wasn't blown away and got that have to have it feel

I'm on the fence here...

Everbody Ive talked to who has driven the Mk2 says it's a much better car. FYI only, your results may vary, check with your doctor before starting any diet, yada yada.

if you plan to really drive the cars, get the .2gt3
if you want something that's special after many years, get RS.

Warranty is not honored by any brand these days as it used to be.

Warranty is as good as your relationship with the service manager. Period.

A written warranty agreement and my attorney are my warranty since last year, and it seems that it is going to be that way for a long time, unless a down to earth new brand shows up in the market (McLaren ?).

A major difference between the handling characteristics of the GT3RS.1 versus GT3RS.2 has to do with the factory not adjusting the suspension, including the sway bar, on the GT3RS.1. It is similar to the 996 GT2 - the cars were called 'widow-makers' because they came from the factory with improper suspension settings.

I drove (2) 997.2 GT3s back to back with my 997.1 at the Glen at the end of August. The cars belonged to a friend and a student, both of whom are RL members, and all cars were bone stock with the exception of the 997.1 which had a Cup Car front lip, some non-stock rake to the stock rear spoiler, and brake pads.

The 997.2 has an improvement in torque/midrange, which was noticeable on acceleration but not mind blowingly different. The .2 did feel more planted rocketing up the esses at WGI--and the jury is out whether the cause of that is the .2's increased downforce or some slight rear suspension differences (and I only have heard anecdotal evidence of such slight differences existing) or maybe the cool but overpriced dynamic motor mounts.

The CF folding race seats in the 997.2 are absolutely amazing, though.

The 997.2 is a better car. To me, it is not $30-40k better than the .1, which is the rough dealer trade-up cost. But, if $40k were a drop in the bucket to me, I would add another 20-30k and order a .2RS.

If I were faced with your decision, I would buy the 997.1 RS and spend the left-over cash on some nice track mods.

Good luck, you can't make a wrong decision!
