Sam is one of the best in the country. Did an amazing job on the entire front end of my 997S. Seamless!

That's very nice work. It's also the first time I have heard that the entire front end can be covered. Is that true, or is it my imagination. If I could eliminate that ugly cut line just past the headlight, I might reconsider. Is there any reason why this can't be done?

Yep. Sam can do anything you want. He sure is expensive, but the work is amazing.

Sounds like a bad installer.

When my GT2 is clean, the clearbra is really really hard to tell.

I have used clearbra since 2001, and installer makes a huge difference.

If you are in LA, you are welcome to check out my car, it's hardly noticeable.

sam is great, and if his work cannot satisfy you, then you should just not use clear bra, b/c it wont get any better than what his shop can do.

on SY, almost any film will be invisible, so is on dark colors as well as silvers.
but on white cars, it WILL be noticeable.
this is not due to install.
but the film is not 100% clear, sam may chime in.
even at 99.9999% clear, you can see a tint of yellow and that b/c obvious on the white paint.

perhaps white cars dont need bra. one of my GT3 didn't have bra on it (white), you dont see the chips until you get very close.

I see now that is the "not 100% clear" that is bothering me and is what will make me decide not to go that route. I will stand farther away.

On a white vehicle, it is more maintenance on white than any color due to what we have come to call the "clear coat" effect. From the paint and body work industry, it is known that the more clear coat applied onto a white surface, the more yellow tint that will come about. For those with white vehicles, just take a look at the front / rear bumpers and you'd be able to see that there is an off-white difference between the panels.

With full panels wrapped, this effect is minimized as you may not see where the drastic cutoff is on the center of the hood / fenders. If having protection is important to you, then it is an option to consider for full panel wrap. The film needs more cleaning / waxing than any color due to this effect that is compounded when dirty.

What's most important here as mooty and stuka have kindly mentioned already is that the installation makes a world of a difference in any color. As for maintenance and wax buildup, this is quite easy to do...we always inform our customers to not brush wax over the seam as this would show the outline of the film on the hood and fenders (that is if the customer did not go with the full panel wrap). The wax buildup can be removed with alcohol / microfiber, qtip, etc, but the reason for us to inform the customer on not brushing wax over the line is to save him / her the work of having to go back and wipe up the wax. It is also not necessary to tape up the film edge before you buff because if you are buffing over the edge fo the tape, you will still get wax buildup on the film and on the unpainted surface where the tape ended. Just wax up to 1/4" of the seam and move on. It is not necessary to wax every single inch of the film.

I'd take the stone chips. Can't stand the looks of those things. Chips are a badge of honor.

Looks great, but it's a long way from Florida to California. Can you recommend anyone in South Florida?

I'm inclined to agree.

I guess everyone has their opinion on what bothers them most...I simply can't stand stone chips, and as close to invisible as a well-installed film is, the decision is very easy for me. Obviously others disagree.

ArmorGlove in Cos Cob CT. They have done my M5, C2, and GT3. Have the C4 in line for the full treament. Joe Kane is the US head of all the franchises and CT is where they do the training.

When you say "full treatment", does that mean what it sounds like, i.e. the full car end to end? The cars I have seen all have the film end about mid hood. What would it cost to do the entire car? What does it look like next to an untouched version?

I think that means whole panels, not the whole car. Some folks like to cut the plastic about half way up the front of the car (since stone chips are going to occur at the front and on vertical surfaces) but this leaves a cut line to catch the wax and draw the eye to a contrast etc.
