According to senrior exec I know at UA, Porsche NA has requested all US dealers to send in a tally ASAP (probably by the end of February) of all bonified interest in the RS, which includes real $$ deposit and a signed purchase order (they want to avoid the CGT fiasco with making too many). This is above and beyond a list here or there by a few dealerships who are wishful. It is a Porsche NA initiative.

They did not disclose any other information about the car, other than it will be "extreamly limited" in production numbers if it comes, and not every dealer may get one.

This is the real deal fellas, and it looks like there is a good chance it is going to happen. They wouldn't be having the dealer network jump through these hoops if it wasn't real. BTW my signed PO is in.

As for the "picture" above of the RS - nice photoshop of a 997 GT3 cup

i'm almost positive the 2 allocations you speak of are for GT3s not GT3RSs. what do you think?

I have an order invoice in my hands for a GT3 RS - late delivery in Aug/Sept. I was told to expect it after the normal GT3 is delivered to dealerships.

Anyone know what the price difference is on the 996 GT3 / 966 Gt3 RS????

Did the dealer give you any other information other that "it's coming". Price etc?? I was told to expect it $10-15K more than the GT3.

JerseyBean. When I see it (RS) I'll believe it. No way it could be like the euro model with plastic rear window, ect...DOT would not have it...at least in my un-educated opinion...

Anyways, are you going to Lime Rock 3/25 or 4/8 ?
I'll be there....

Jerseybean, I'm also on the list for a GT3 and 'am # 2 (possibly # 1) in line at my dealership. They have no info about when the orderbook will be released or when the first deliveries will come to the U.S. other than "sometime this fall". The MSRP for the base GT3 is expected ~ $105K which I think is a reasonable expectation given the new 997TT's base sticker is 122K and change.

With respect to a GT3 RS...I've searched high and low amongst the dealer community and haven't found any who would commit knowledge of it, let alone take a deposit against a firm order.

PM me if you wish to share more info on the RS. Thanks...

No, "it's coming" is about it.

It's a good point, but as someone pointed out in another posting they're are lightweight DOT alternatives to plastic. Who would have thought 1yr ago that the 997 GT3 would have TC or PASM, so it wouldn't surprise me if PAG make it DOT friendly. The USA represents a nice profit center for them, with lots of increase competition from other manufacturers. The biggest question I think is the roll cage. Will it be dumbed down to a roll bar installed by the dealership instead of a full roll cage?

I think I'm going to the 4/14 NNJR event, not sure about doing 3/25 as the weather always seems to be a choice of cold, snowy, raining or a bit of everything, I think CT region cancelled the event last year due to snow on the track... You should think about signing up for one of our events.

Did you let Spenser from Farbacher install the 6hr test REVO software on your car?
