Cabriolet top replacement
In Atlanta, I have been quoted $3200 for the top and headliner replacement for a 2009 C2S from an independent in Chamblee. Is this reasonable or does anyone know of a good installer in the area. I see on line you can buy a top for about $1000 so $2200 seems a bit steep for labor but it does look to be not a difficult job.

I just had mine replaced by a very reputable shop for $2400 with original German canvas. The headliner didn't need replacing. It's a 10 hour job to replace the top. Sounds like a fair price including the headliner. Just make sure your installer has experience with your model and they have good reviews. It's a very complicated install.

Installing a convertible top is a black art that you do NOT want to try yourself. I have seen even reputable shops have a bad day and screw it up. With the materials cost at $1,000, this is not an item that you want to experiment on.
$3,200 for the top and headliner is a lot of money, but not crazy for a job like this on a P-car.
I'd definitely shop around and get some references before I pulled the trigger. That being said, it is worth paying more to be sure you get a good job from an experienced installer.

I've called around today and it seems the going price for just the top is about $2200, adding in the headliner brings it close to the original offer of $3200. The $3200 offer is from the independent that does the install for Jim Ellis so I'll likely go with him since he has the most experience. I sure wouldn't mind giving it a go myself but I'll head the advise and go with the professional.

Recommend that you farm it out to someone who actually does this for a living. I helped a Scottish friend of mine (get it?) and we tried to tackle a new top for their Boxster. I would not want to have to do it.
