Default Help for a new guy!

Hi all

I have just joined the forum as I may be in the pocess of 'defecting' from Mercedes to Porsche towards the end of this year, hopefully by way of a 997 if all goes to plan.

I have read up on some background etc on the 997 and as I am finding my way around this forum, I have come upon the 'how to' section which is very helpful indeed.

I was wondering however if there is anything on the site that I could look at that provides some 'one stop' introductory info on the actual theoretical workings or mechanics of the 997, engine etc for a newcomer like myself?

Much appreciated

Kenny

Good luck with your search. I moved from a SL55 to my current 911 4GTS and am very happy. There is lots of info on the site just depends on what you are trying to do.... again good luck.....

Don't know of any one - stop reference guide here . You might look at Adrian Streather's 997 book. On Amazon, it's $127, but well worth it if you're seriously considering the 997.

The official booklet that Porsche publishes describing the tech in these cars is called the "Technic Introduction". I had a hardcopy for the 997.2. It has more thorough detail than most anything else you will find.

I just did a Google search knowing the right buzzwords and found one available for the 997.2 for Planet-9 members (free join) at http://www.planet-9.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=340

They also have one for the 997.1 here: http://www.planet-9.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=341

I also see someone has a hardcopy available. I had one but passed it on to the buyer of my 997.2. It's for sale on eBay but he's asking a fair amount for it, $85: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-2012-Po...-/381957541455.
