I bought a fairly inexpensive black and decker from Amazon that works on both AC and DC. Never had a problem with blowing a fuse, and it has an auto shut off when it hits the pressure you dial in. About $100.

Three Wheelin'
I have this installed over head.

I only paid $30 for it. I love the idea, I just wish it was better built but it gets the job done. Air for bike tires, strollers, and easy to top up my tires after a day at the track. No "putting away" stuff involved.

Just bite the bullet and get a small air compressor. I got sick and tired of fixing one of the small "tire inflator" type units that I had before, and found a nice, well rated Kobalt 3 gallon compressor at lowes about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, they don't sell that model anymore or I would attach a link.
It has a little more CFM than most 120 volt models I found, plenty enough to power an Airlift when I was doing my water pump a few months ago.
